Look what I saw today. This made me want to curse and swear. And I'm not one to do that.
Here's what it said:
All breeders are evil they are comparable to the RIAA or the MPAA. The will lash out at anyone that tries to cut in to there profits. They also have brainwashed the dog community into thinking that breeding your self is dangerous and wrong. Dogs have been breeding the thousands of years amazingly without the help of the breeder Nazis. I say go for it and tell the naysayers were to go!shockcry
I'm telling you, we need a "I'm so MAD" emoticon!

What the WOOF!?!?!?!?!?!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????
What a lie! I'd like to shout this to this person:
"I'm a future breeder and I care NOTHING for money! Hear that, person who wrote that, N-O-T-H-I-N-G! I tell people about breeding the way I do because I CARE about the HEALTH of the breeds! BREEDING ANYTIME IS DANGEROUS FOR THE DOG, NOT THE PERSON! IT'S WRONG BECAUSE THERE ARE MILLIONS OF DOGS PUT DOWN EACH YEAR DUE TO PET OVERPOPULATION AND WHEN DONE WRONG, BREEDING CONTRIBUTES TO THE UNHEALTHINESS OF THE BREED!!!!!!
In the "old days" there weren't any health tests and the genes were HEALTHIER. Dogs and people were tougher. Breeding "back then" was simpler."

DOESN'T THIS PERSON KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BREEDING? Doesn't sound like it.
That answer made me wish to go out and hurt somebody.
But I know that the best way to talk to them, if I did, would be to be polite. I won't be talking to them though, much as their words anger me. They have obviously been told about breeding and are not receptive to be educated. Where they got their freaking "info", I have no idea. But it's obviously keeping them from the light. So, I'm not going to be talking to them. I'd rather talk to people who are more open to the truth. Like the people in my town.

You're right. While I'm not much for breeding cats and dogs, if a breeder is making money, most assuredly they are cutting serious corners somewhere. To suggest (or imply) that responsible breeders are trying to monopolize the market (for lack of a better word) for pedigree pets so they can charge higher prices to make more money is just plain ludicrous.

Mom had a dog from a responsible breeder. They deserve so much more money than they charge. They spayed her, watched while mom was gone (on a big farm like place so she could run around with other Saint Bernards). They would have taken her back if mom didn't want her and help with the vet. In my oppinion responsible breeders deserve more money.

Where mom got her dog they did show, and couldn't show he (all white face) but they sure did love her even when mom had her.

Did you tell that person that there have been cases where dogs have died because the breeder was in it for the money.

There's always also the fear of Puppy Mill runners saying they're breeders online and selling terribly unhealthy dogs!

It's always safer going fur the dogs in the pounds, shelters, humane societys, off the streets, in newspaper articles, and others. Give the breeders what they don't want! NOTHING!

I agree, sometimes I have to hold 'my tongue or leave the room at work ( I work at a vet clinic as a tech) because some clients can't get it through their little heads that not all dogs should be bred. Ugh, it makes me so made that even in my own family people won't take my advice. My mother has a pure breed male wire fox that she would just love to breed then there's is my older sister that has a pitbull rotti boxer mix that her boy friend would love to breed quote "cause he want to continue his line", what lines he's a freaking MUTT! The last time I checked there were thousands of pitbull mix being put down in the states. What is a dog lover/activist to do? It never seems like i get through to these people and I have seen a chihuahua almost die cause one of her pups got stuck in the birthing canal. It's not pretty and we were luck to save both the mother and the pups life. Then the owner had the odasity (not sure f i spelled that right) to ask what color the pup was before we were finished I was think " Lady we just saved your dogs lives, who cares what color the puppy is!!" We didn't even charge them half as much as we should have sense we are a low cost clinic we don't even deal with emergencies like that on a daily base. I could just scream but it does feel good to vent.
