 | | | | That my kitty, Shakespeare, was a Turkish Van was a suprise to me, too. The first evening Shakespeare had the run of the house he tried to jump up on the kitchen counter where I was doing dishes. Not wanting to start a bad habit I didn't help him up, but within a couple of weeks, he finally made it up on his own. He immediately ran over to the sink. I had the water running and he began playing with the stream of water. I sprayed him with some water, but instead of running away, he started playing with the spray! I had never seen a cat do this. A few weeks later I took him to the vet to be neutered, and while I was there I saw a poster on the wall of purebred cats, and there he was! I had no idea he was a "breed"! When I got home I went on line and read up on Turkish Vans, and he fit the description to a "T". I'm sure he's not a purebred (he was found in a barn), but clearly some of his forebearers sweated it out in Turkey! I love all my kitties, but I'm sure you agree that Turkish Vans have incredible character - very special kitties!!! | | | | |
