The leaves rustled, heavy with the early morning dew. A lone creature scented the air, after shaking the dew-drops from her deep black pelt. She was sleek and small, with finely toned muscles, and plenty of wit and cunning to help her survive in the wild… alone.
The air was heavy, the scent of dying leaves and the beginnings of fall lingered about. The stars had faded, and the sun barely peaked over the trees. It warmed the feline’s night-shaded pelt, and the red hues began to show through. Her eyes reflected the suns luminous glow.
Soon, the cat met up with another. He looked nothing like her however, with a dark mink colored coat, which faded darker to his face, legs and tail. “Did you leave her?” the tom asked the little she-cat. Together, they scaled a cottonwood tree. With her tail, the black female pointed to a small grove in the far distance. “Yes.” She said. “A human visits that grove each morning. I hide in the brush, and listen to her words as she speaks. She talks of her best friend all the time, and often brings the K-9 along with her. But yesterday, the dog didn’t follow. And she was in tears. She said her best friend had died, and her life was no longer worth living.” She turned to the tom, her gold eyes meeting his blue. “My kit will give her meaning to life once more.” She frowned, and hung her head sadly, missing her kitten. “She will be destined for greatness.” the tom meowed, nuzzling her in comfort.

| Purred: Fri Aug 31, '07 10:06pm PST | | | | | | Chapter 1 –
In the small town of Scorn, Nebraska, morning began to fade in. The sun drew colorful streaks of red, orange and purple across the sky, and shot a single ray through the window of an old farmhouse.
Stretching every fiber of her being, a young cat yawned, and leapt off of her tall gray cat tree. There was a bed on top, with two shelves below it, then a hiding box, and toys dangling off of sisal string, then the base. Most was covered with a soft faux fur, except for the toys and a single post, which were sisal.
It was time for the night pelted feline to tend to her morning duties as a housecat. Leaping on to her Humans bed, she began to meow loudly. “Wakey-wakey, sleepy head!” she meowed, pawing at her friends blankets.
As any normal 15 yr. old would do, Tiffany grabbed her pillow and tossed it onto her head, moaning and grumbling in her what seemed foreign morning speak. The cat grinned slyly, and propped her head under the pillow, licking her so-called owner’s nose. “Now…” she chirped. “How do you expect this to help? Hmm?” Tiffany rubbed her nose, pushed the cat off the bed and rolled to her back again. “Cheyyyyy…” she moaned as she was flipping over. Cheyanne grinned. “Playing hard to get, are we?” she made a leap, pouncing directly on her Humans chest.
But Tiffany was ready. “Ha-HA!!” she exclaimed, grabbing the cat mid-air, flipping her to her back, and tickling her soft tummy. “I got you now, my furry little alarm clock!” The cat clamped her sharp little fangs onto her humans arm, and kicked wildly with back paws – claws protectively sheathed. “Hey!” she growled playfully. “That tickles!”
The pair had a special bond. They could communicate through telepathy. They understood each other, and since they met, three years before in the Grove, they were inseparable. Some would say that they looked alike, in their expressions, and personalities.
Tiffany stood, stretching her arms and bending her doubled jointed neck back until it touched her back, and a crack was heard as her upper back popped. She grabbed her favorite blue shirt, with two black wolves on the front, and put it on along with her dark navy jeans. After running a brush through her medium length brown hair, she returned to her cluttered room to find Cheyanne perched on the television set.
“No school today, kitten.” She told the cat, stroking the small, white, heart-shaped locket on the cat’s neck, and disturbing her blue collar which jingled. “You want to go to the Grove?” An excited trill answered her question positively, and she fastened the tiger striped harness onto her friend. “Not too tight.” Cheyanne warned, and off they went.
The morning air was crisp and fresh. A breeze blew across the street from the alfalfa field, and brought the sweet scent of hay over, which intermingled with the scent of the first dying leaves of fall. “Helicopter” seed pods fell from the maples, and cotton danced on the breeze from the cottonwood trees. The surrounding hills looked as if they had fur, the way the wind was rustling the last of the natural prairie grass. The pair took to the creek this time. The sun was starting to get hot and they enjoyed the shade of the trees. Twigs, leaves and rocks crunched underfoot.
Suddenly, a metallic clank stopped the pair in their tracks. “What was that?” Cheyanne asked, looking up at her human, as her eyes grew. “I-I don’t know.” Tiffany replied. She knelt down, and began to brush away the dampened earth until the words ‘Delta 5’ were shown.

Chapter 2 –
They raced back to the house, and grabbed a shovel. They packed a small cooler of sandwiches, soda, and a pack of beef jerky, and set off again – dragging the red wagon containing their supplies (and Cheyanne) behind.
It was around noon by the time they returned. Tiffany adjusted the glasses resting on her nose, and began to dig. The feline sat aside, in a small patch of sun, and supervised. The amber hues and her ‘war paint,’ as her Human called the stripes that lay under her fur on her face, shone in the sun.
An hour or so later, Tiffany had finally exposed The Delta 5. It wasn’t totally exposed, but enough to see the hatch that lead into the inside of it. Large piles of earth surrounded the pair of friends, and Cheyanne shook dust from her glistening coat and stepped forward to investigate.
“Now what?” mumbled Tiffany, wiping sweat off of her forehead with one arm. She fixed her gaze on the gleaming metal sphere, which laid half underground below her. She wondered how big it truly was. Cheyanne looked up at her Human. “Well,” she began telepathically. “It looks as if there’s a hatch on the top.” Tiffany knelt down beside her feline companion and started out. “I don’t know, Chey…” A wild look flashed through the cats eye, and she smiled in a cat-ly way. “C’mon Human… we’re explorers!” she interrupted. “Finders of the great unknown!” She silently cursed herself for sounding so ‘old’. “We always have been. It runs in our blood. So, what are we waiting for?” The wind ruffled through the trees, and made the water in the creek ripple. Her human was obviously deep in thought, much to the cat’s annoyance. “Alright.” She finally concluded.
They could sense each others excitement as the thrill of adventure coursed through their veins, and became alive once more. Tiffany slowly opened the hatch, and the door creaked and groaned as it slowly opened. Little did they know, their adventure had only just begun.Edited by author Sat Sep 1, '07 11:35pm PST

| Purred: Sun Sep 2, '07 10:46pm PST | | | | | | Chapter 3 –
Cheyanne was the first to enter, with a curt warning to be cautious from her human. Tiffany followed her. She careful climbed into the metal contraption, and pulled a chain which turned on a light. The air was musty, and dust showed clearly on all of the buttons, knobs and consoles. In ways, it was very primitive looking, but yet very sophisticated and advanced. Two seats sat in front of a large window, and what appeared to be the main controls. Cheyanne bounded forward and leapt easily into one of the chairs, motioning to a rolled up note on the console with her tail. “Read.” She demanded, as she entwined her tail around her front leg.
Tiffany stepped forward, sat in the next seat, and carefully unraveled the piece of paper. She began to read aloud.
Welcome to the Delta 5. You’re probably wondering what it is?
“No duh.” The cat interrupted, and twitched her tail. Tiffany simply ignored her, and continued to read.
All in good time, I assure you. My name is Dr. Siegfried Narmon. I created this ship, and named it the Delta 5. The Delta 5 has a highly complex array – well, you don’t need to know that. It’s not important. Anyway, the Delta 5 is a time traveling machine. To go somewhere, simply set the chronometer to a year. There’s a dial for year and a dial for BC or AD. Once specified, press the blue button, and the Delta 5 will take you to a special place in that time frame. It decides where you go, you decide when. Now, there is a matter of communication. If you go back very far, the people you meet won’t speak English. In a small box under this console, you’ll find to small blue devices. Fasten them to yourselves, (t-shirts will do) and you will be able to communicate. Good luck on your travels.
Sincerely,
Dr. Siegfried Narmon
November 18th, 1942
Cheyanne searched under the console until she came across the box. Opening it, she picked up two shiny blue devices, and dropped them in Tiffany’s hand. She bounced back into her seat, and looked expectantly at her human friend, who had a dazed look in her eyes, as she fumbled with the devices. They looked like sapphires, she noted.
Finally, she looked at Cheyanne. “Chey,” she began. “If we do this - and if it works, we have to be careful. We can not tamper with the time line, okay?” The cat nodded briefly, and craned her neck so Tiffany could fasten the blue chip onto her equally blue collar. Tiffany fastened the other chip onto her shirt, and returned her gaze to the cat in the co-pilot position. “What year?” she asked the night-colored feline who gave a lick to her silky shoulder before replying. “How about… BC. But not to BC. I don’t want to have to deal with any t-rex, thank you much. The poodle is bad enough.” The cat made a face thinking of her human’s dad’s poodle, Rusty. They always fought, and hated each other with a passion. Her human didn’t like him any better though.
Tiffany chuckled, catching the cat’s expression. “How does 1500 BC sound then?” she queried. “Sounds good!” the cat exclaimed, as Tiffany carefully set the dials. Tiffany shot the cat a look, as the cat extended her tail and placed it in her human’s palm – the human equivalent of holding hands. “Let’s get the rock out of here!” she grinned, quoting a favorite song. Tension filled the air, and flooded senses as Tiffany pressed the blue button.
The door began to automatically close behind them, as the Delta 5 unearthed itself. Suddenly, a ray of bright light surrounded them. The lights on the console flickered, as the main light went off. The explorers’ eyes grew wider then ever as The Delta 5 picked itself off, and shot upward. The world began to zoom out under them. It wasn’t long before the entire town of Scorn was visible, then the Missouri River were seen. Not long after, both oceans were visible. Clouds were seen over the Rockies, as they continued their ascent. When they finally reached the deep black of space, they stopped. The stars flickered around them, and they shot each other a glance of fear and confusion.
Suddenly, the world stopped spinning. Had they stopped time, and become stuck in space? But the world began to spin again, except in the opposite direction. It spun faster and faster, until it was all a blur, and suddenly stopped. For some reason, it looked different, and the ship started to fall. It plummeted through the atmosphere, but not towards Scorn – towards Africa. It became closer and closer to the earth. The ship showed no signs of slowing, and Cheyanne leapt into her human’s arms, as they both feared for their lives. The Nile River was soon visible, and scattered trees could be made out among the barren land. Tiffany held her beloved companion tight, as the ship halted, seconds before crashing into the earth.

We think descriptions are what spice up the story!
No Athena, we've tried to watch it with H II..... but its kinda.... weird.... but when Human II was Humans age, he wrote a story like this (more sci-fi) with his friends, called the Dart 1 after Dr. Who.
