 Cuteness- overload! |
| Purred: Thu Jul 13, '06 4:07pm PST | | | | | | Hello everyone!
I've just joined this group and I'm amazed because there're no topics in here! I was hoping to see a bunch of cats sharing their experience, because there's nothing more heart warming than a rescue story!
So I suggest we ask our moms and dads for a little time in the computer and write here how they found us. Let's tell our stories!
Well, I begin:
Someone abandoned me at a pet shop entrance in my native country, Brazil. I was a hungry little kitten, very weak and full of fleas. I was left alone and I had a very sad look on my face.
But what seemed a really bad day turned out to be the luckiest day ever: my soon-to-be mom was passing by, saw me and took me home.
Since then I'm the princess of the house. I have two loving parents that would do anything to stay with me. They had to move to the US last year and they took me with them, so now we all live in San Francisco.
I wish all cats could have the same luck.
Many purrs to you all! | | | | |

Boomer and- Sammy
2nd chances are- for God's- special ones |
| Purred: Mon Sep 11, '06 12:13pm PST | | | | | | Me and my brother had a bit of luck like that! We had been abandoned in a closed closet inside a house in Lake County, Ca. (A bad place!) The owner of the house had not been there for a week or so and when she came back her son heard our cries. They luckily brought us to our rescue mother who knew what to do for young babies. We were about 4 weeks old and I (Misha) was soooo hungry! but my brother (Sumo) wouldn't eat! Mom had to force feed him until he finally started eating. Mom taught us everything and we finally got to eat big cat food after a few weeks. When we were 12 weeks mom said she couldn't keep us >^,,^< she didn't have the space. Mom found a good home for me with a little girl and other cats to play with, in LA, Ca. She has heard that I am happy, eventhough we both cried when I left. My Brother Sumo went to moms brothers house and he has two brother dogs to play with now. We thank mom for giving us a second chance in life. Our motto is: Second Chances are for God's Special Ones!

Yankee- ADOPTED!
I know you love- me. |
| Purred: Sun Oct 7, '07 2:52pm PST | | | | | | I was hit, starved, neglected and thrown out of a window. Then I ended up in a high-kill shelter as a senior, asthmatic cat. The Gifford Shelter people came in to take some of us whose chances of being adopted were slim. I now have my own room with my buddy Boo Boo in a no-kill shelter with lots of volunteers who love me! Even if I don't get a home, I would be so happy to stay here. | | | | |

Joy- I HAVE BEEN- ADOPTED!!!!!- !
Hurricane Joy,- heeeere I come! |
| Purred: Sun Oct 7, '07 2:56pm PST | | | | | | My parents moved and left me to fend for myself in the neighborhood, hungry, in the middle of a heat wave. Because I am a very smart kitty, I went to meow pathetically at the home of the vice-president of our no-kill shelter. Needless to say, I received the best care and I am now up for adoption! | | | | |

Sesshoumaru- (Sesshy)
 mrrrr? wanna- play? |
| Purred: Wed Nov 14, '07 12:35pm PST | | | | | | I was rescued from a Pet Shop that was closing down. We were likely from catmills (as most of our puppy friends were from puppy mills). The owner was an irresponsible and heartless man who was going to drown me and my siblings if we did not find homes by the end of the day. We were all very sick with respiratory illnesses, eye infections and worms. My mommy and daddy took me and 2 of my siblings home with them and my Auntie Jenni took my other brother, Elmo. My brother and sister were adopted by very nice people in our neighbourhood. I was taken to the vet where my Mommy and Uncle Dave helped me get the medicine and vaccinations I needed to get healthy. It's hard to believe when you see me now that my ribs once stuck out! | | | | |

Lucy Too
short on legs- but not on heart |
| Purred: Sun Feb 17, '08 3:06am PST | | | | | | Lucy Too came into my life on 18th December 2005. I had phoned my vets to ask for a repeat prescription for Bugs and they asked if I had room for another cat. Lucy had been abandoned at the local RSPCA clinic. Her family had brought her in to be put to sleep because they had bought home a dog and she hated it!! Our vet refused to put her to sleep on those grounds and got them to sign her over. He noted she had something wrong with her front leg and x-rays showed it had a partially healed compound fracture. Because is was partially healed out of alignment he had to remove the leg. It's most likely Lucy had been hit by a car as she had a lot of damage to her teeth too. She was so incredibly nervous to begin with and I wondered if she would ever calm down. Thankfully with much love and affection she is a much happier cat now. she is still very nervous of loud noises and strangers but has proved to be a very loving and affectionate cat. | | | | |

Sassafras
I may not have- claws but I do- have teeth |
| Purred: Tue Sep 22, '09 1:35pm PST | | | | | | I name is Sassafrass and am new to Catser but wanted to share my story and hope is inspires adoptions and to rescue organizations that good things come to those who wait - sometimes a long time.
I am a black haired, declawed cat that was given to the shelter at age 4 because "my attitude changed" after the declawing. I was at the shelter for 4 years before my mom came and took me home at age 8. The shelter said no one ever showed any interest in me because I was black and couldn't go outside.
My mom was actually looking for a black cat with not a very good chance of being adopted. She also wanted to name her new cat Sassafras. It was love at first sight.
It was fate and the universe worked matching us up because the name the shelter gave me was ---- wait for it ---- Sassafras! Nobody believe this story but it's true!
The world works in mysterious ways so it may take a while - sometimes a long while - but happy endings are ALWAYS possible. | | | | |
