OK. I'll go first.
I am Jade. My aunt Julie and I founded Jack's Angels soon after I adopted Jack in October 2001. He is the top dog in my life and rarely are we seen apart. The story of his rescue from an awful puppymill is told on his dogster page. Jack will be 5 years old on July 4, 2006!

Felipe- (Adopted!)
I am extremely- portable! |
| Purred: Sat Apr 14, '07 8:13pm PST | | | | | | Hey! This is Felipe--aka "Moxie" aka "Mr. Muggles". I was found by a really nice couple in Humble, TX. (about 45 minutes outside Houston.) They'd seen me before, trying to get into their neighbor's yard to mate with the neighbor's dog. They weren't able to catch me. Finally they found me one morning almost dead of starvation and dehydration. They took me to the vet but the vet didn't want to give me my shots because I was underweight and sickly. (I weighed about 4 pounds.) They were able to get me neutered, however, which ended my lust for...well, my lust!
After I'd been there a little while and almost escaped, repeatedly, from their yard this couple decided it would be best for me to go to the Texas Italian Greyhound Rescue.
So! My now-foster mom got a call: could she drive to Humble and pick me up? The plan was for me to get passed along to a different foster home the next day (Foster Mom and Foster Dad were hosting four other iggies overnight with the same plan.) When I arrived at their house, however, they realized I'm at least as much Chihuahua as IG. Unfortunately the IG rescue can't foster or adopt out dogs who aren't purebred IGs. So the super-cool lady who runs the rescue told my Foster Mom to hand me over to a lady who runs a different rescue that does deal with mixed-breeds.
Well...Foster Mom is kind of a softie. And a control freak. So she decided to keep me until she felt I was healthy enough to find a forever home--she also didn't want to hand me over to anyone else because I didn't have my shots yet and she wanted to see to that herself. (Like I said, control freak.)
So here I am! I'm pretty darn cute. And ready for my forever home. Thanks for the invitation and best of luck to all you other adoptable Lone Star pooches.

Sugar - ADOPTED
Oh Come On,- Let's play!
|
| Purred: Sun Apr 15, '07 1:36pm PST | | | | | | Hi,
My name is Sugar. I am a 11-month old Miniature Pinscher / Terrier mix. My foster mom me Sugar because she said that's what I am. She says I am sweet, playful and very affectionate. I weigh 11 pounds of fun!
My previous owner kicked me in the face and broke my jaw. I don't know why, I was just being a puppy. I had surgery to fix my injury and my foster mom says I am recovering very well. I feel great! I am heartworm negative, updated on shots, neutered and microchipped. I am on heartworm preventitive too! I will have my last surgery very soon to remove the wire in my jaw and then I will be ready to bounce!
I love to play, play, play, and I get along very well with the other dogs in the house. I would love to go to a forever home where there is another young dog I could play with.
If you want to know more about me you can contact my foster mom at : shereerescue@tx.rr.com

Cherry - Adopted!!!
Adopt a rescue- dog!! |
| Purred: Tue Apr 17, '07 6:51am PST | | | | | | Hi, thanks for the invite.
We are from a litter of eleven Lab mix puppies (probably Lab/Catahoula mix). Our former owners had found our mother as a stray and didn't get her spayed (no she was not pregnent when they found her). So we were born, and this family was looking to get rid of us when we were only four weeks old. Our foster mom heard about us and talked with our former owner and our former owner agreed to keep us with our mom until we were eight weeks old (then our foster mom would take us). Well, one week passed and she heard that the family was planning to drop the puppies off at a high kill local shelter and they weren't planning to contact our foster mom!! Luckily she heard about it and called the family. She ended up picking us up that day since our only options at that point were to go into foster care or go to the high kill shelter (one that still uses the gas chamber). We were very lucky, and now most of our litter has been adopted. Our foster mom will probably make pages for each of the puppies that are still available for adoption now instead of the one page for the females and one for the males that she has made up now (there are only three of us left, Cherry, Alvin, and Benny).

Meadow - Adopted!!!
Adopt a Rescue- dog |
| Purred: Tue Apr 17, '07 7:28am PST | | | | | | Hi everyone,
I'm being fostered for Tassie's Hope Animal Rescue. I was abandoned out in the country about four years ago, during this time there was one nice lady who would come out and feed me and the other dogs in the area. She said that she was doing her best to get help for us, and she would catch some of the smaller dogs/puppies when she could. We lived in a horrible place, where people (everyone exept the one lady) would try to kill us. Some of the dogs I lived with were poisoned, some were shot, some were hit by cars and some got killed by wild animals. I had several litters of puppies during this time, but only one of those puppies (Isabelle) made it.
About 5 months ago (early November) I had another litter of puppies. Then a week after I had my puppies The nice lady showed up with another lady and a man. They had a net on a long pole and used that to scoop my puppies from under the shed, where I had them. Then they picked up a leash and tried to get me to come near them! I though yeah right, and stayed far out of their reach. But I didn't wander to far because they had my babies. They tried to catch me for a few hours and then I finally ran off into a field. So they left, little did I know that they had a plan set up to come back and catch me, Isabelle, and her pups in a few days. For the next two days the nice lady put food down inside a small pen they had set up on the property. Then on the third day, she closed the door on us!!! Soon after that a mini van pulled up and the other lady and the man was back!! They got me and Isabelle in crates and put us in their van, then they caught all of Isabelle's four week old puppies and drove off. When we got to their house, they put us in two pens right next to each other and they brought my puppies out to me (the lady(who is now my foster mom) had been bottle feeding my babies until they could get me). I was really happy to see my babies again. Over time I realized that this was a good place, she brought food out for us every day, made sure we always had clean water, and that our pens were clean. Most says she would bring us special treats too. Isabelle's puppies soon learned to trust her and other people, I also learned that this was a nice person who loved us. My puppies grew up not knowing how mean some people can be. Isabelle still was not sure (after all, the only life she knew was out in the woods as a feral dog). Eventually our foster mom did win her trust too, and now we are all inside dogs in our foster home and we are ready to find our forever homes.
I thought I had found my forever home, but because of my past I need time to get to know and trust new people. The family that adopted me thought that they could get me to trust them right away even though my foster mom told them about my past and told them it might take a few months for me to completely trust them. I have been evaluated by a behavorist who thinks I would be an ideal family dog. I have very strong maternal instincts and LOVE puppies and little kids. I also have a wonderful temperment and have never shown any aggression. I love food, am housetrained, like to go on walks (and behave very well on a leash), and love to lay on pillows. I am about 6yrs old. If you know of anyone who is looking for a sweet little girl and is willing to let me take my time in trusting them completely, please contact my foster mom, or fill out an application on the Tassie's Hope website!!!!

Isabelle - Adopted!!
Adopt a rescue- dog!! |
| Purred: Tue Apr 17, '07 7:38am PST | | | | | | My mom posted most of our story. You can read my side of the story in my diary, on my page.
I was born out in the woods, so I became a feral dog (a wild dog). I thought all humans were to be feared until I learned I could trust my foster mom and that she won't let anyone else hurt me. Now I like to play with the other dogs in my foster home and I like to follow my foster mom from room to room. I feel very safe near my foster mom, and when I take a nap, I like to be right next to her. My foster mom hopes I find a forever home reallyy soon, before she gets any more attached to me since she can't adopt me (she already has six dogs). I wish I could stay here, but I know she will only let me be adopted by someone who will love me and take good care of me like she has.

| Purred: Tue Apr 17, '07 7:52pm PST | | | | | | HI,
I am Maggie Mae and I was left out in the icestorm this winter. My foster Mom is a member of Georgetown Animal Outreach. I was left starving and alone and it was really scary. But My mom cared enough to give me a place to live and be loved for the first time. She says that we will find the perfect furr-ever family for me before I know it. You can check out my story if ya want to on my page. My foster Mom does say that we really need to find someone really energetic though and with a good throwing arm soon cause her's is about to fall off.
