 | | | | Ricky started having trouble breathing early this afternoon so we had to rush him to the emergency vet, which is 30 minutes away.
He had an x-ray to check for fluid in his lungs. His lungs are clear, but very extended. The vet said he had a lot of trouble hearing his heartbeat, that it was faint.
The vet seems to think the problem is asthma. Ricky got a Prednisone injection & an antibiotic injection. Tonight I'm supposed to give him a Prednisone pill. I have to give him one a day for 30 days, then one every other day until they are all gone. Plus he gets some Terbutaline twice a day starting in the morning until that is all gone. He also gets Amoxidrops twice a day starting in the morning for five days.
The emergency vet said it was unusual for him to have asthma all of a sudden like this when he has never had it before.
He hasn't improved any since his injection around 2pm. The vet said that it is possible for him to just simple drop dead from this.
I'm calling our vet first thing Monday morning to get him in there for a check and his opinion. I hate not being able to see our own vet for emergencies.
If you would please pray for Ricky. | | | | |
