hi!
Just wondering how much time do you all devote to reading?

Do you set a regular schedule?

Do you give up something in order to make time to reading?

Do any of your parents belong to a book club outside of this one?

My mom had a few book clubs that she attended but sometimes the books didn't interest her. But when she did attend a meeting she loved the conversations and listening and participating in the discussions.

Now it's been hard getting back into the reading mode but she's trying.

No set timetable here. It depends on how good the book is...if I am reading 1/2 hour or hours a day. During the school year it is hard to stop reading so much to get all the work done. Summers and vacation times are lovely to get back to reading. No, not in other book clubs. The organizer of the one is WAY too bossy for me to take outside of work. I need a break from them and am NOT commuting an hour to be told what's what. silenced laugh out loud Sooooo I save the emails that tell the book suggestions and read them on my own. big grin

I just looked and I have about 40 emails saved up to go through! eek

Since I teach school I also go through Award Winning Books when the lists are done for the year with the kid/teen books.

Well Talker, Mom is retired, which helps. But she is very busy with volunteer work and choir and community committees. She likes to read for 45 mins to an hour at bedtime. And when we are at the cabin she gets to read for hours on end. So I guess that's not much help. I do like to lay next to her while she reads. The cabin routine is walk, read, nap lunch, walk, read, nap, read dinner, walk and read then listen to a podcast of old time radio at bedtime. big grinbig grinbig grinbig grin

Hi Talker and Zak,

Reading time varies in our family too...it depends on work and having an opportunity.

Zak, if you teach school to kids between the ages of 6-12, my dad will send you a complimentary copy of Planet Of The Dogs.

Wags and woofs,
Dafi

Mama always has two books, one in the car and one in the house. She spends quite a bit of time waiting in the van with us while Mama #2 is in some store or other...so likes to have a book to pass the time. The one in the house always gravitates to the bathroom. BOL!
