Do you think that maybe the Mom could have been the smoke until MIB killed her with the knife and then when jacob through him in to the cave maybe he now takes the form of the smoke? Because only smoke does that kind of mass killing and she said to Jacob don't go in there promise me maybe to save him from that fate?

I have been loving this season, but this episode was a huge disappointment. After all this, are the writers going to explain everything away with some schlock about superstitious religiousity? Bleh. This was the weakest episode ever.

The last couple episodes have smacked so much of heaven and hell and purgatory and redemption, that now I am wondering again if they are really all dead (killed in the plane crash), like everybody thought in season one. ..and if the writers said "no" to that theory publicly, because if they'd said "yes" who would watch the rest of the show with the mystery solved?

Desiree, interesting theory! It would sure be a let-down if that's what it turned out to be there. I'm still mulling over "Jack's" comment that the ending will be "sad, but cathartic, and full of hope". Really paradoxical, IMO.

That last episode really did create more questions than it answered. Did you notice that one of "Mother's" remark (to Claudia, I think) was "every question just leads to another question", with the implication being, stop asking questions. Sigh. Just hope we get SOME answers in the last two shows!

Mom just saw a spoiler, by mistake, that said Frank is alive. Hope that is true. Also she read Hulu wrote "Jacob and Esau learn their fate" as the description of the episode. Is that the MIB's name or someone goofing off.....thinking

I didn't think they ever called him a name. I thought fans had just been calling him Esau because of the parallet between them and the story of Jacob and Esau from the Bible. thinking
