We have found what we think is a great spot to have our meet and greet picnic! cheer

It is the KOA campground in Petaluma, Ca. 37 miles from San Francisco- http://www.koa.com/where/ca/05330/facilities/

I hope these additional miles will not be too much of an inconvenience for any of you.

I wrote some additional things in one of the group emails. I can post it here again, though. Only a few ideas or suggestions, hope they help

Petaluma is not too far away from the Point Reyes and the Russian River Area - so a great spot for a long weekend puppy
The campsite is ~ 60 miles away from the SF airport and 56 miles from the southern areas around SF, around the Bay Bridge. So it might be nice to even check out the city the day before or after the meeting.

I know the airports have rental cars at the port and early reservation can get you great deals. Also AAA cards help for renting - I recommend for the ones that come by plane to rent a car. Petaluma is kind of country side-ish and getting there without a car is a challenge.

When calling KOA to "rent" your preferred spot on the site, ask if a AAA membership will give you an extra discount.
Often times the campsites have disability discounts as well, and you should tell them if you need an accommodation. I don't know about this particular one, though.
Also I don't know about the SD access regulation to the tub area and and and. Don't know whether this is a "public" location or private. I have to follow up for myself, since the pool seems tempting big grin

Make sure you will leave the SF area early or very late, because the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge will be crowded around noon on the weekends. Also the freeway up North is usually full on weekends.
The toll for GGB is $6 into the city at this point, if you chose the 101/1 trip.
The toll for Bay Bridge is $4 (will be raised, though!) into the city and the second bridge on the way, San Rafael is $4 out of the East Bay, if you choose the 101/580/101 trip.

So it depends on where you come from. Both ways are main traffic veins..

Taxi fairs are about $100 when coming from Oakland airport.
From SF airport it is about $200 .
Both depending on time of day and month.

Airport Shuttles:

give these guys a call - their fairs seem very reasonable.

We can't offer a ride for a long distance trip unfortunately, since we have a little car :o(
Hendrik and I might go camp somewhere at the Point Reyes I think, the Russian River and Pt Reyes area is are worth a visit and driving the highway 1 on the way to Petaluma or back to SF is wonderful. It adds some time, but it is well worth it!
I look forward meeting you all.

thinking Google is giving me different information..
The campground seems to be in Santa Venetia, which is between San Rafael and Petaluma, toward the water.
So my info about the public transportation might be incorrect, don't know if a shuttle goes there....
This little spot on this planet is about 40 - 50 miles aways from San Francisco, depending on where you come from.
Coming from the SF-airport/is about 45 miles.
Hope that helped.
I have no idea which of the google searches is telling me the truth laugh out loud
I think it is about 50 miles and taking the long route along highway 1, is a bit more..
Have fun planning, picking tents and cabins and buying mosquito repellent wink

I think it will be a great place to have our meet and greet. They said a Burnese Mountain dog group had one there not too long ago too.

We're checking into having a live video feed of us at the picnic for those that couldn't come to be a part of it. big grin
