Athena, come to this thread for your medecine cat training. It will be a bit difficult to train you since we are away from camp and there aren't many herbs, but I'll do my best. Once the storm lets up we'll travel to Highstones to make you an official medecine cat apprentice.

Me, too! Come to the Journey thread whenever you can. Levi went to collect some herbs during our journey, and he nearly froze to death. I'll show you some herbs, then you can help me treat him.

We'll start with some basic herbs.

What are the most important ones, besides catnip? smile

Well, there's poppy seeds, but I'm sure you already know them. Everycat does. And cobwebs, to cover wounds. Juniper berries are good for bellyache and to give a cat strength. Feverfew helps with fever, of course, and burdock root is good for infection, especially rat bites. Oh, and I'm sure you remember mouse bile from when you were a warrior apprentice! It's good to remove ticks.

Those are the most important herbs, but of course there are lots more. I'll teach you those ones later. I don't want to overwhelm you. It can be a little hard to remember them all at first, but soon you'll know them all.

Mom grows feverfew in our garden at home! Aunt Minna gave it to her. It has very pretty white flowers.

We have juniper, too.

But mouse bile? That's not an herb, is it? *giggles*

Oh, really? That's pretty cool.

Well, mouse bile's not exactly an herb, but we do keep it here in the medecine cat den, and we have to give it to apprentices a lot. Just don't get any in your mouth! big grin

Right, I've heard it tastes pretty awful! The cobwebs, too, I bet!

Yeah, you have to be careful with the cobwebs, too, but the mouse bile's worse. If you get any in your mouth, you'll have a bad taste in your mouth for days.

Now, why don't we really get started. You can help me make a poultice of herbs for Levi's eyes. I'll show you which herbs to use, then you can help me chew them up and mix them together.
