Hi. We are astill around, Morgan and I. We are very sorry we have been silent so long. Mom has been very busy ministering to Wee Geordi, work, etc and just could not type for us. We have been trying to keep up with the assignments in spirit if not in word. I hope you will forgive us.
Patrick and I decided to tackle Commander Honey’s algae scenario. We entered the holodeck with our wetsuits on. “Patrick,” I said, “Since I can do thought communication as an angel cat, please just observe me – I will use sign language so you can get the gist of what is going on.”
We drew near to the desalinization plant and plunged in the water. The water was clean and clear until we approached the water inlets near the bottom of the plant. Then the water turned a murky green and we saw the algae.
As we approached, the algae started to swirl and encompass us. “We are friends!” I sent out the thought. The algae stopped in their tracks. “Why don’t you go to feed out further in the clean water where there is plenty of food?” I asked.
A scream of anger and fear emanated from the green mass and I could see that Patrick felt it too. Again they started to swirl. I wondered if they would attack. “There is black evil out that way….murk, black, dark evil! It poisons our waters! There is no food in our waters anymore!”
“We will be back…we will help!” my thought went to the algae.
Patrick and I surfaced. He looked strange. “What was that awful feeling?” he asked.
“That was their fear and anger, Patrick. I believe the surface people are inadvertently dumping pollutants in the water in the area where the algae traditionally have lived. They are endangering themselves also, without knowing.”
We met with the leaders of the land people. They were aghast at the reason for the algae’s attack, not knowing they were the cause of it. They gave us a plan to take the algae out further than they had ever been and to clean the water in the algae’s normal area so they could eventually come back. Patrick took the lead in explaining the situation to the land people and they were quite receptive to his young and honest demeanor.
We dove again and explained the plan to the algae. A joyful feeling arose from them and soon the evacuation plan was underway. The scenario ended there.
Magic, I think you and Patrick have been exemplary students. I would like to have you back as class instructors someday, just like Commanders Honey and Vinnie and Agent Monster.
Your understanding and ability to see the entire picture, even if it's not yet visible, is very much like Commander Honey's ability to use diplomacy AND Black Ops fact-gathering skills in a manner that is beneficial to the Federation. Kudos and congratulations to you!
P.S. Matt's baking a delicious catnip cake for the two of you.
Thanks so much for the excellent grade and kudos for our hard work...we DID work very hard, but I could never have done it without the help of my extraordinary brother, Magic! We would be honored indeed to help with future black ops classes!
And thanks, Matt, for the catnip cake! You are a fabulous baker!
Thus far, I have graduated the following Black Ops students from this cohort:
Magic
Patrick
Charlie
I am waiting on final exams from:
Harley
Independence Jefferson
Stinker
Libby
Margo
I encourage fur families to work together. Please pick a scenario from history or current events where you will use your deductive reasoning and skills of understanding psychology and possible subject manipulation when resolving your case. Magic and Patrick’s Jack the Ripper case is a very plausible solution, and Charlie’s insight regarding Commander Honey’s scenario was well thought out.
Margo and Harley, I especially want you to complete in order to become part of the Black and White Black Ops corps. And Stinker, Bridge kitties are invaluable members of the Black Ops solutions!
Class, the Federation is gearing up for a possible attack by the Dalek. There is no doubt we will be utilizing Black Ops techniques and it's vital we have as many qualified agents as possible!
Read up on the Dalek and see if you can assess a weakness. Thus far it is thought to be vanity ...
I have done more research. For physical weakness, their eyes are a target. I also found this in the data transmission that Captain Ben sent
"Dalek society is depicted as one of extreme scientific and technological advancement; the Third Doctor states that "it was their inventive genius that made them one of the greatest powers in the universe." However, their reliance on logic and machinery is also a strategic weakness that they recognise the Daleks use non-Dalek species as agents to compensate for these shortcomings. It should also be noted that Daleks are as likely to use violent means for problem solving as technological ones, and at times even reject more efficient technological options for their own purposes (e.g., using slave labour rather than machines for grueling work because of the suffering it causes the slaves).
Daleks have occasionally made alliances with other species, but have no compunction about betraying their allies when they are no longer useful to the Dalek cause."
I hope that helps.
They are going to be quite the Black Ops problem. I think it may be prudent to get Commander Honey in on this and start to strategize ... I think we will be asked into this sooner versus later.
