God Asked the Feline Spirit

And God asked the feline spirit
"Are you ready to come home?"

"Oh, yes, quite so," replied the precious soul.
"And as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself."

"Are you coming then?" asked God
"Soon," replied the whiskered angel.
"But I must come slowly
My human friends are troubled
For You see, they need me, quite certainly."

"But don't they understand?" asked God,
"That you will never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined, for all eternity,
That nothing is created or destroyed,
It just is... forever and ever and ever?"

"Eventually they will understand," replied the cat,
"For I will whisper in their hearts - that I am always with them
I just am... forever and ever and ever."

There are two things I'd like to add to this. One is a poem mama
wrote for Simon and another is a quote that we really love. I'm not
too sure if they're appropriate for here, but they are pretty and
might just bring a tiny smile...

The end is near and
Hope is in short supply
My love is ever stronger
As your life draws nigh
While time allows respite
Lie with me and smile
We'll share some purrs
And talk for a while

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too
swift for those who fear, too long for those
who grieve, too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love, time is eternity."

To Those Whom I Love and Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that I have had so many years

I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I traveled on alone

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It is only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories in your heart

I will not be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can not see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you soft and clear

Then, when you must come this way alone
I will greet you with a smile and a
"Welcome Home" (Mary Alice Ramish)

Meow Lacey:

I sent that same poem to Simba's mommie. It helped my mommie when she had to make that decision about her beloved dog Lady.

Purrrrs to all of you for doing this!
