Mum has a couple Nora Roberts books right now. Nora's one of her favorite authors. One has two stories in it and she's into the second one. Then she has another one that Nora wrote under the Silhouette Intimate Moments brand. Guess she's in a romance mood at the moment. Before that she read "Dewey".
Mum likes Sci-Fi and Horror (esp. Stephen King) and Fantasy (Harry Potter) along with the romances.

We are reading Bill Bryson's new book At Home. We love anything he writes, although At Home is more like his language/history books than his other funnier books.

We are also reading the new Rick Riordan Olympians book. Blah. Needs MAJOR editing. A sore disappointment after the Percy Jackson books.
Same for the Egypt one.

We are also reading The Once and Future King, but we may already have mentioned that here earlier somewhere. We are pretty brain-frazzled at the moment.

Luna, Kingsley, Robby Jay and Minerva

Hey! I just read the Rick Riordan Percy Jackson books, and I thought they were great too. I was wondering if I should read that new Olympians book. Took a glance at it in the bookstore, but it didn't look that exciting. And the Egypt one I think I will wait until they all come out before reading them. After reading what you guys had to say about the Percy Jackson movie, I think I'll skip it.
Right now I'm reading Shadowrise by Tad Williams (third book in Shadowmarch quad). It's pretty good, but this series does not compare to his others AT ALL.

Hi Toki!

I am plowing my way through the new Rick Riordan book. It needed to be edited before it went to print. It is not nearly as snappy or clever as the original series, at least in my opinion.

I am also halfway through the Egypt one, and it is the same way.

I was really disappointed in both of them. Readable, but pale imitations of Percy Jackson.

Kingsley

There's a new Olympians series??!? We're gonna check it out despite the bad review. Maybe we'll even add to the bad review, mol! We're reading the second book in the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. We like it. My mama is all into Sweden right now, so these books fit right in.laugh out loud

That sucks that the new Rick Riordan books aren't that good frown but like Hunter, I might read them anyway. I'm bored now and need some new reads. Although I usually do agree with your opinion, Kingsley. Except of course that you don't read horror heehee. I'm planning to read Stephen King's Under the Dome despite the fact that nobody responded to my group message about it :/ . I wonder if it's horror actually, because his recent books haven't really been.
So I finished Shadowrise and wrote about it in Sci-Fi Fantasy thread.
Now I'm reading a kid's book called Martin's Mice by Dick King-Smith (the guy who wrote Babe: the Gallant Pig). It's about a kitten who won't eat mice and secretly keeps them as pets. Of course I HAD to read it after seeing what it's about, hehe. It's very funny so far.
I'm also going to read Mossflower by Brian Jacques, a Redwall Abbey book. I just recently read Redwall for the first time and thought it was great. I'm surprised I never heard of the series when I was young.
Hey Hunter, if your mom is into Sweden: my mom had a Swedish roommate a while ago that told her about this thing that Swedish people say. They shoot the peace sign with their fingers and say, "Peace din Gris" which literally translates to Peace the Pig. I'm not sure why they say it, I think it's kind of like saying "Peace out" or something. but isn't it funny?

I saw the new Rick Riordin book at the bookstore too. I am sorry to hear you didn't like it Kingsley. I read the Percy Jackson books by your recommendation and loved them.Let us know what you think Toki although I will take it off my list for now. I am getting ready to order the Power of Three series by Erin Hunter. I read the first two Warrior series already. I haven't read any Steven King in years. Let us know how you like that book to Toki smile

Well, you guys, I may have to eat some of my words.

At the end of the new Rick Riordan book, he ties all the confusing stuff together and it is SO disappointing when you realize the book is over and you have to WAIT for the next installment!

I picked up little glimpses of what was going on throughout the book, but I could not figure out where he was going with it until the very end.

I still think it needed editing and I do not think the main characters are as engaging as Percy and Annabeth and Grover, but they do grow on you.

I am still hooked. smile
