Concern about care at kennel

Echo - growing quickly!

When we went home for Christmas we had to board our pets. We have previously boarded our cat at the Glebe Pet Hospital, and have been very impressed with the care we received there, so we decided to board both the cat and the puppy there while we were gone.

My girlfriend's coworker, Kim picked the pets up from the Hospital, as my girlfriend's flight was getting in late. There are several things that make us concerned for the level of care the pets received at the Hospital.

Our dog's collar somehow broke while she was staying there and they had her on a pinch collar, something we do not use. Furthermore they wouldn't let the dog "keep" the collar, even though we have a $40 credit at the Hospital. Kim had to fashion a collar out of an old leash she had. Later I discovered that another dog's tags were attached to Echo's broken collar.

Echo had diarrhea while at the Kennel and her bed was completely soiled. She has never gone on her bed before, even when she was sick. This is the part that disturbs me the most. It does not appear that the staff made any attempt to clean the bed, so it is basically ruined.

When Kim picked the pets up the lady at the Hospital told her that Echo was "a bad dog," needed obedience training, and that this was "probably because of the breed." Our puppy certainly isn't perfect, but no one who has met her would ever call her "bad." I find it very upsetting that someone who works with animals professionally would call a dog "bad" and suggest it was because of her breed.

Our cat's bed was returned ripped up, or chewed up or something. Our cat is old, has no front claws, and has never destroyed anything, so there is no way she did this. She was supposed to be alone, so we are wondering how her bed could have been damaged.

We have not had the opportunity to speak to the Hospital personally about our concerns yet. Has anyone else had experiences like this? Like I said, we have had nothing but positive experiences in the past with this Hospital, but we are quite concerned now.
