 | | | | I got my name because when Mama adopted my sister Sinead O'Kitty and me, she loved our strong personalities and musical voices. She named me Siouxsie Mew after the punk rock diva Siouxsie Sioux, and, of course, Sinead was named after the Irish singer Sinead O'Connor.
My little sister Dahlia got her name by an odd series of events. When Mama first adopted her, she was told Dahlia was a boy. The shelter had named him Blackie. Mama decided to make his name more creative and started calling him Black Jack Davy (after a seductive, dark-haired Gypsy in a folk song). But then Dahlia presented Mama with her butt and Mama said, "You've got an innie, not an outie!" and decided that Davy wouldn't do for a girl. She tried a few "D" names and then when she said "Dahlia," Dahlia perked her ears up and came running. People think she's named after the Black Dahlia (since she's black), but Mama says she's not a murdered starlet! Her golden eyes with orange-copper edges remind Mama of a Dahlia flower. | | | | |
