I have 1 automatic kitty litter box - it is the kind that has the tray of blue crystals rather than clumping kitty litter in it. It works ok but does recommend a good automatic kitty litter box that uses the clumping litter?
I have 2 kitties and sometimes i get so busy I forget to clean them as often as i should.

Sorry to answer your question with a question but do the automatic boxes work very well? I was just looking at them today and wondering aloud to my wife how efficient they are.

Honestly, we had the one with the blue crystals...and Coopurr BROKE it. I kid you not...he was so fascinated by the moving rake, and he got obsessed with the box "raking." And he literally broke the rake. I literally had to throw it away because it just no longer worked because he pulled on it so much.

It was sturdy -- but apparently not sturdy enough for Coop.

We tried the Littermaid box, didn't work so well for us, the rake just smeared the poop around (BIG mess). My kitties, for some reason, have VERY large pee clumps and the waste compartment top would never close all the way. We tried all kinds of litter (worlds best, swheat scoop, etc.) but nothing seemed to work really well. Sold the box on craigslist and went back to manual scooping.
