First, Mommy recently moved out into the country and I have almost 3 acres of land to roam. Mommy is worried because I only come inside now to eat or when the weather is bad and sometimes I won't even let her pet me. She is worried I am going feral, am I? And if so, is it OK? I'm already fixed and got my 3 yr rabies last year, plus I am microchipped.

Also, Mommy lives next door to her brother who has a little gray tabby living in his garage. Mommy calls her "Fancy" and thinks it is a girl. Mommy can get within about 10' but then the kitten runs off. Mommy has a live trap and has been trying to catch it but my youngest brother keeps getting in & eating the food. Mommy bought some canned mackeral today and wonders if that is a better bait than can cat food? Mommy really needs to catch her quick because our humane society is offering reduced spay/neuter for Nov but surgery has to be done by Nov 30. Mommy is buying a voucher tomorrow for the kitten. Mommy thinks she is younger than 6mos because she is alot smaller than the kitten Mommy found on Mother's Day. So Mommy thinks she can be tamed and given a real home. Any advice for Mommy?

No, Tipper is not going feral. Bless your heart, don't stress yourself so.

You said that the move has been recent. How recent? I know when I moved from the ATL area to the hills in TN, my cats would be gone a several days at a time (some a week or longer) - they are just exploring their new turf. We have four acres and are surrounded by 1,000 acres of farmland so they got adventurous at first. And the mouse population took a tumble. big grin

As for luring the stray kit, definitely use the Mack. It's stinky as I recall and that is was really draws 'em in. You might to have try to lure the OTHER cat away from the fish with a small portion of his own. Can he be put inside for a day or so? If the kitten is that young it shouldn't take long to trap her.

???

Edit: I forgot to say that all my cats have exhausted their exploring desires and all the house cats that go outside come in by dark and all the outside cats retire to their house (yes, my cats have a house) by dinner time. During the spring and summer my front porch looks like a screen shot from,"Hee Haw" will all my "honeys" lounging on the porch and benches and steps. big grin
