This is Wynter. I just got her yesterday and I was trying to describe her, but her color is difficult to describe. In the photo you can clearly see she is a cream/white with silver tipping, and you can see her face. But her back and down her tail is one pure black stripe and she has block spots on her feet, although she's got white mittens on all feet. She's adorable! Oh, and a white belly and chest.

I can't see the cream in the picture, but I suspect she is a silver patched tabby (also called silver torbie). Look on my page and scroll to the bottom. There you will see a picture of Meowma's boyfriend's cat, who I think is the same color only short haired. Meowma actually emailed that picture to messybeast.com whose writer is an expert on these things, and got the answer. She is beautiful, by the way, and the color is not that common. It comes from having a parent with a silver gene like a shaded silver or chinchilla Persian, and another that has a tortoiseshell gene. That's a simple explanation, anyway.

Yes, I will get a better picture up soon, and a few from the sides. I don't think she's patched as much as "ticked." None of her fur is black or white all the way through, it's all white with black tips. But, she has a pure white undercoat as well. Wynter also has a bright black stripe starting at her hips and continuing down her tail. She is gorgeous. SHe's got black eyeliner and black around her nose as well. She's very sweet.

The black tips on white hair are called 'silver'. "Chinchilla" Persians are also a form of silver. "Ticked", in cats, means each hair has bands of color all the way through. So if a silver cat has areas of cream or orange, it's a silver patched tabby even if you see no real stripes. This stuff can be very confusing, which is why I think messybeast.com is so interesting!
