Jack Russell Cat and Dog Rescue Services - Daphne Lugo

This is a special section for cats needing new homes and for inspiring stories of cats that have found their furever home through Catster or through the love and energy of rescuers. This is also the place to discuss shelters, rescue organizations, rescue strategies, issues, solutions, etc. and how we can all help in this critical endeavor. Remember that we are all here for the love of cat! If you are posting about a cat that needs a new home, please put your location in the topic of your thread so those close by can find you! Make sure to check out Catster's cat adoption center!

Coastal Jack Russell Terrier Rescue (CJRTR) is a non-profit dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of terriers in the southeast and placing them in loving homes. This organization was established in 2002. Since 2002 CJRTR by Daphne Lugo has placed over 2000 Jack Russell’s in forever homes. The majority of these dogs were discarded simply because their owners were unprepared for the demands of this energetic and feisty breed. Many of our rescues come from kill shelters and owner surrenders, and are often scared and confused. Rarely do we find a little JRT that cannot be rehabilitated and placed in a compatible home. Occasionally we have special needs dogs and every effort is taken to get them the medical care they require. CJRTR also works with owners to educate them about the breed in order to help them keep their dog rather than place it in rescue. Currently CJRTR houses between 25-35 JRT’s throughout foster homes in South Carolina. We take dogs from all over the Southeast and work with other rescues when the need arises. Our organization is run on a volunteer and donation basis and is currently overseen by Daphne Lugo. Ms. Daphne Lugo is currently the President of Coastal Jack Russell Terrier Rescue and has been part of this organization since inception. She is dedicated to these animals and volunteers all of her spare time working to get dogs into their forever homes. She works to find fundraisers and grants to assist the organization throughout the year to offset the cost it takes to care for these dogs. All JRT’s and other small terriers that are adopted out through CJRTR are spayed/neutered, vetted and micro chipped. Donations can be made to Coastal JRT Rescue, PO Box 1028, Santee, SC 29142. You can visit our website at www.jackrussell.petfinder.com to find our next event to adopt or volunteer with our organization.
