	I started Tapazole one month ago today. I think I gained weight already. For the last week, though, I haven't been my usual chipper self. All I want to do is eat and sleep. I've been spending a lot of time in my "man cave" ubder the sofa, one of my favorite nap spots. I used to like to play once in a while, but now I don't feel like it. I am eating well, using my box, and spending time with my family. My checkup is next week, but my mom is worried. She called the vet, and the vet said I can come in sooner but as long as I was eating and drinking and using the box I could probably wait. Could it be the medicine chilling me out so much? Will I ever get my groove back?

	This is Delyte. Did you have your checkup yet? It sounds as if the meds did their job and pushed you a little into hypothyroid, low thyroid, where you feel sleepy all the time. You probably need an adjustment to the dosage or maybe to stop it for a while. They told me that it would happen to me, but I have been taking it for three years and am still wildly hyper. Good luck to you and hope you do indeed get your groove back. Purrs!

	I had my checkup yesterday.and had my T4 checked. The vet called this morning and said my T4 was 3! I don't need more meds. While I was at the vet I had my ears cleaned and got some steroids. I have really bad allergies, and I was sneezing more than usual. So even though I didn't have an infection, she gave me the pills just to be sure. Today I feel great! How have you been on your meds, Delyte? Is your thyroid stable, or you just hyper? It's nice to meet another thyroid kitty. One other thing...I didn't gain weight. I am about 8 pounds. I started meds om May 21st. The vet says I might not ever get to my buff old weight of 15 pounds, which I guess is a good thing, but I would like a pound maybe. Any advice?

	This is Delyte. I am probably not one to give advice. I was diagnosed with hyperT three years ago, but I cannot take pills, so I get the meds rubbed on my ears. [I had surgery on my intestines 7 years ago and I have a very sensitive tummy and will stop eating if I am given any meds.] I am probably not absorbing enough of the medicine, plus my person is crippled and sometimes I make it hard for her by running away and hiding, so I miss doses of my meds. I am down to 8.1 lbs from my alltime high of 14, but I also have CRF, plus I am now 17 years old and arthritic, have bad teeth and all the other things old cats get. I don't think anyone expects me to recover or gain weight, they are just amazed that I am still here. They wanted me to have the radioactive treatment or surgery, but they thought I was too frail to go through it. Plus living here, we would have to go 120 miles to St. Louis for the surgery or treatment and then stay three more weeks if I had the radioactive treatment. I don't travel well, to put it mildly, and my person doesn't either, and I don't think I could stand being away from home for that long. I am still eating huge amounts and frisk about occasionally, so I am in a holding pattern. But you have recovered! Hope you can gain a little weight--thin and bony is not a good look for cats. Giant purrs to you and your person!

	This is Delyte. My person thinks I am more of an object lesson! She did not catch that I was sick until I almost died, then she allowed an inexperienced person to operate on me, there were lots of post-surgical problems, and then I ran away and hid outside for nearly a week. She thinks that people criticize her, especially at the vet, because she is not well enough to have cats and has no one to really help her with us. Our male person does all the driving and he helps her if she needs to put my flea meds on, and he really helps with the heavy stuff of bringing kitty litter in and taking the used stuff out. Without him she could not do it, but she feels guilty because she cannot always catch me to give me my meds, and she hates to see me so thin. I used to be a beautiful and healthy cat. But I am still here, the oldest cat she has ever raised--and the most expensive! But I am worth it!

	I still think your person is doing a great job. We cats are good at being tough when we don't feel good. I'm glad you're still here and hope you will be for along time.
