Sometimes. Rumble's one of the offenders. He's really fit and healthy though. Maybe he eats too fast, or doesn't chew enough, or the food is too cold, or... there are a lot of causes. As long as it's not chronic and they're not dehydrated or uncomfortable, I'd let it pass. It's a more natural and automatic reaction for cats and dogs than for people.

Really worried about Aura. She won't eat a thing now other than pinky mice. I had to syringe feed her NV canned duck this am.

She has squirting diarrhea and drinks more, but is still playful. Today I broke down and bawled. I cannot handle this stress after dealing with it for months before Oscar died!!!!

I keep thinking why can't I just have a cat that works, and then I realize, oh wait I did! Charlie has had NO health problems his entire life like this. He has bad teeth and asthma, easy to diagnose and treat. And what did he eat most of his life?? Meow Mix and Nutro kibble!!!!

I'm trying to start Aura out right on good food, and this happens!? We have a vet appt for Friday but I don't know if she'll thrive until then!

Aura's mom, take a deep breath! Is it possible that she has just decided that those mice are her favorite food and just doesn't want to eat anything else kind of like human children fixate on a certain food sometimes? How many times has the diarrhea occurred? Does she eat mice every time they are offered? You know, the whole frankenprey idea in raw feeding is to mimic a cat's natural diet, i.e. mice with all the organs and bones. So if she wants to eat mice for now, that's should be ok healthwise.

Best wishes and we hope that you are fine!

I took her to the vet today. How do I know that the mice isn't what caused this? I wish I had a stool sample, but I didn't know I was taking her to the vet today so I didn't try to get one.

Anyway, she seemed fine other than one slightly elevated liver enzyme. No temp, not dehydrated. Probably because I force fed her today and gave her some water and slippery elm by syringe last night.

I guess it could be coccidia, but the first symptom wasn't diarrhea, it was loss of appetite and nausea. The diarrhea has happened once a day since Sunday. She is now on albon (antibiotic) which usually treats coccidia but she hasn't been diagnosed with anything due to no stool sample. I hate giving antibiotics, but I can't just do nothing.

She doesn't eat the mice every time. And I'm scared to feed them to her now.

She is most likely ok. I know once you have lost a baby it is hard to feel relaxed about their health. When cats don't eat it can signal health problems so when we notice things in that department it can be concerning.
The fact that she does eat is great.

BTW she is certainly a little cutie pie.

She is not eating. She won't eat anything. She had a few bites of chicken this am, but I had to syringe feed her. She had diarrhea about 45 mns later.

I got a stool sample to the vet today and it was negative for parasites. I cannot believe how bad this is getting. Starting to get scared.

I agree, four days is very concerning. What is the vet saying?

hug Hang in there - I empathize, it's hard...

I don't know what I wrote already. The vet did blood tests, nothing showed up but a slightly elevated liver enzyme. The more critical one, he said, is normal.

She gagged again today when I showed her the Natures Variety raw!!! She did eat a little cooked chicken today. I force fed her some baby food and yogurt.

She then had diarrhea, which I took to the vet. They said it was negative for parasites and maybe they could do another test, and they'll call me tomorrow.

He said if she isn't eating by tomorrow to let him know. I wonder what they can do. I don't think they can hospitalize her because she hasn't had her shots yet. She had an appt to get them this Friday cry
