This was my first time trying this. She ate it right down!! The only thing that worried me was, she gnawed it a little, and then it was gone. She basically took it down whole.

I made it a point to get the smallest ones because she's just 12 weeks old and this was her first time (and mine). She didn't regurgitate it and she's very playful, so I guess all is well. I just didn't expect her to eat it so fast or basically take it down whole.

Any thoughts? Funny, she had been eating all the flavors of NV canned, and then started eating NV raw rabbit, but I gave her the raw venison last night and she didn't eat it. So I didn't think she'd eat a mouse, but she loved it!

When I got Lurch he was 7 1/2 months old. I was shocked to see how much meat he would suck down in a single swallow. Folks here laughed and said yep, normal. So I wouldn't worry about the mouse.

So now that you're hooked, head on over to rodentpro.com and start buying by the bag. The mice themselves are cheap, and even with shipping it costs less than the $2.50 pinkies at the pet store. confused Try the chicks too! If Aura doesn't like them, Lurch will take them! big grin Seriously, it would be little additional cost since you're paying for shipping anyway.

BTW, have I mentioned how incredibly adorable Aura is? cloud 9

Any idea how many mice she should eat in a day, or chicks? I left her ground raw food (venison) today and she didn't eat it, so I'm about to give her another pinky because I can't get to the store for the ground rabbit she loves until morning.

Of course she won't be eating just mice, but how much should a cat eat? I know, since she's a kitten it should be as much as she wants, but I've been looking a little for a feeding guide and can't find anything.

I will go to rodentpro now, I didn't know they have chicks??? Thanks! I'll also check out haretoday and compare prices.

Thanks for complimenting her looks! I think she's quite precious too, even when she's naughty.

Kittens should be eating as much as they want. An adult cat would usually be eating 2-4% of it's body weight- you can weigh the pinky mice and adjust her feeding amount accordingly.

Way to go! That's great that she has taken to raw at a young age!

You know, I keep posting that Lurch eats between 6-8 oz a day, and just realized that doesn't include his evening mouse or chick! laugh out loud

I'd be happy to give him two mice and a chick a day, and he'd be thrilled to receive them. Unfortunately it turns out to be too much bone for him and he starts producing stone stools. I usually give him one mouse or one chick. Sometimes I'll do one of each and just make sure he has some delicious fatty pork. A nice thing about the whole prey too is that it takes care of your organ requirement!

In short, feed as much as you both want, within bowel tolerance. (Fancy way of saying "happy poop." big grin )
