	Mom pulled this off of Fox news: DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man accused of a botched attempt to neuter a friend's dog has been charged with improper care and treatment of animals. Police say Hung Doc Vu was issued a misdemeanor citation on Monday and faces a fine of up to $500. Officials say 49-year-old told them he had been taught the procedure by his father and grandfather, but he has no veterinary license or training. Police say they have no indication that Vu was trying to be malicious. The dog's owner took the animal in for emergency treatment. Police say the dog, named Pooper, was treated and released. 	i guess being stupid isn't a crime (re: pooper's person)...and at least the guy had the sense to take the dog to the emergency vet when things went wrong. that had to cost mega-bucks, so he obviously does really care about the dog. just...dumber than a box of rocks, is my opinion. surely to god even this guy learned something from this and will use a vet from now on...surely. surely. and i agree: poor pooper (lord, what a name for a dog...)

	well, it ended up costing him a LOT of money...emergency vet bills are through the roof...not to mention how much pain the poor dog went through. idiot. they're both idiots, pooper's person and Mr. "my family has castrated creatures for many generations..." and yeah, harvey...Hung Doc Vu? in context that just sounds...odd Edited by author Tue Aug 12, '08 6:30pm PST

	It's bad enough that the dog's idiotic owner saddled him with the name "Pooper", but then to let someone without veterinary training try to castrate him at home, no doubt just to save money. My heart goes out to that poor dog. Sure hope that Idiot Owner has learned an expensive lesson from this. Have to agree with Harvey about the guy's name - pretty weird and ironic. 	This story made my stomach churn, I think what makes the sickest is that he only got a slap on the wrist, a misdemeanor, big deal. Considering he did it with a knife and no anesthetic I think it should fall under felony animal mutilation, that is so horrible. It's one thing with cattle, usually they just tie a large band of rubber around the bits until they just fall off, but you don't just start cutting into a dog or cat's genetalia like that.
