GO!

Please, will you purr for me?

This is a special place for cats to share their love and support for each other during difficult times; it's a place to light candles, give a "get well purr" and let everyfur know they are never ever alone.

MaMEE took me yesterday for routine blood work, and the vet tech just called her to say that the doctor says my CBC "doesn't look right," so I have to have blood drawn again on Monday, and the doctor will send it to the fancy lab in NY. I had a bout of anemia 2 or 3 years ago, and the doctor could never determine why. But then I was fine, and MaMee says it's because lots of people prayed for me. MaMee is *so* scared; she loves me very, very much; she says that I'm the "specialist of all"

Thank you; your prayers and purrs are much appreciated.

Thank you, Biscuit and Athena , for your purrs and good wishes. I ate some of MaMEE's bacon for breakfast (although she brought it to me since she thought I wouldn't get out of bed to come get it). cry
She says my nose looks pale, and that worries her. Very rainy day here in PA today, so I think I'll spend it napping. Thank you *so* much for the purrs; it means everything to us right now. hug

I;m not a vet (obviously mol) but could you have had hemobartonella before? Our Patrick had it once. It's a germ that gets on your bloodcells, and your body actually kills it's own bloodcells in trying to kill the bug. Anyhow, it's put into check with a strong antibiotic even tho it's a parasite (yeah, it's a wierd germy bug).
Thing is...it's VERY VERY small. And it cycles. And even if you have multiple blood draws your vet will be lucky to catch a glimpse of it.
So they usually treat for it if you have the symptoms just in case.

Also, it can be hard to eradicate totally. A germ may just hang out not causing trouble then it will kick in in times of stress. You can be a "carrier" kinda.

So, if all your other tests are good. And your anemia is regenerative (your marrow is still making new baby blood cells). And the vet rules out, say, a bleeding ulcer to account for the blood loss....you may just have hemobart. Yes, it can kill if ignored. But a good dose of Doxycycline for 4-6 weeks will kick that bugs booty out of commision!

Please join this great yahoo group Feline Anemia Support
It's for kitties with ulcers issues, cancer and the treatments, hemobart, CRF, and anything that can give anemia both long and short term. Our Patrick is a member.
(Dogs are invited too.)

Biscuit
