| Purred: Sun Nov 8, '09 8:13pm PST | | | | | | I used to feed Indigo Moon (the no-grain high protein, dry formula) to my 3 cats. I have one senior and 2 kittens. But it's an all life stages food. It gave all of them really bad and smelly runs. I even transitioned over slowly to avoid this. The runs went on for a couple of months before I decided to switch back to a lower protein formula with grains (yucky Iams). And "Voila!", the runs and the horrible gas stopped. I thought cats were supposed to eat a lot of protein. But the lady at the pet health food store said some cats can't handle lotts of it? That contradicts everything I've read. All of the ingredients look pretty satisfactory (for a dry food at least) and I trust the company, so what's up???

| Purred: Wed Nov 11, '09 8:19pm PST | | | | | | I thought the same thing. I had my two cats on Iams and Fancy Feast and started freaking out after I read how bad the ingredients are for cats. So I switched my cats over to Blue Spa and Natural Balance. These foods made my male cat start throwing up and lose his appetite. So I finally have them on a diet of Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Dry and Fancy Feast wet with no problems. I even started doing raw but my female has developed a urinary problem which I find interesting b/c it started about a month after feeding raw. Some cats may thrive on the higher brand stuff and some may not. Not every kitty is the same! | | | | |

Check out catinfo.org for help in this area.
Good luck! | | | | |

Just say NO to- KIBBLE KRACK! |
| Purred: Wed Nov 11, '09 11:08pm PST | | | | | | Sorry Gomez but the lady at the pet health food store has a screw loose, lol!!
All cats are the same , they all have the same digestive tracts, and no cats have not changed since they have become housecats. They all need protein, its all the additives, grain, and carbs that they dont need.
When cats are fed a low protein food, and then switch to a higher protein diet, it does take some time for their systems to get used to it, and this may include diahrea, or vomiting. Not saying that the Solid gold is doing this due to high protein, as it does not contain high protein. The solid gold ingredients have so many things that your cats could be sensitive too, It could be the pumpkin, the high amount of canola oil, potato, or maybe the chicken, maybe they cant handle chicken. I dont like it when they put things like "Yucca" in pet foods, how long have they really tested this on cats, and what affect it has on them?
I would just try a different food. Of course wet is closer to their natural diet, or raw. | | | | |
