 | | | | Feeding a diabetic cat can get expensive. Canned food is the easiest for a cat to digest. I feel so sorry for that poor cat. But, a proper diet can actually put diabetes into remission. Diet is the easiest and most important way to manage the disease. Cats cannot handle grains. This is especially true for a diabetic cat. They need high protein foods. Authority is a great food. It meats all the requirements for a diabetic cat. Stay away from anything made by Science Diet. All cats respond differently to diet changes. If the cat doesn't improve on a high protein diet, your friend might want to try a high fiber diet. The only problem is that a high fiber diet can lead to gas. Never, ever feed a diabetic cat table scraps. Your friend will need to feed her cat on a ratio that corresponds to the insulin he is getting. | | | | |
