Gum Disease

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

My cat has to have all his teeth removed. He is abut 3yrs old. What am I to expect. Very nervous, but his gums are raw.

There are alot of kitties on here that have had this done. I am sure he will be sore for a few days, but I am betting he will feel so much better. He should have no problem with wet food, and I know they can eat kibble too. He may be on an antibiotic & pain med probably. I would watch for fever, infection & if he is not doing better. purrs for you & kitty

Cats should never eat kibble anyway, so being able to eat is not a problem.

Your cat probably will not want to eat - remember people don't eat after they have dental surgery - for several hours at least. That is OK, but you need to make sure your kitty eats at least one meal.
