stitch removal

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

A few weeks ago Athena had surgery for a mole on her neck. (It turned out to be noncancerous, fortunately.) The vet put in a single stitch and said it would dissolve in two weeks or so--no need to bring her in for a return visit. Well, it hasn't dissolved--I can still feel the tiny little piece of (plastic?) thread there. Do we need to be concerned about this? We would like to avoid bringing her to the vet if possible--she always gets so upset.

I would not be too worried. But I recommend that you call your
Vet if you are concerned.
