How can i help my stressed out cat?

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

My fiancee left for the army about a week ago and his childhood pet has been acting strange and constantly throwing up and crying. All he does is sleep, and barely eats, but when he does, he just trows it up...
How can i make him stop trowing up and feel better? :'(

Extra info:
He is a 15 year old bombay cat. He is a bit overweight, and has hip problems.

You need to take your cat to the vet. Not eating and throwing up can indicate an underlying health issue. Did your fiancee leave the contact info for the vet the cat goes to or any intruction on how to care for the cat other than to feed it and scoop the litter box and play with it?

Uh yeah. I have his information, but not the money to go to the vet. But i will look around for some cheaper clinics. But, is there anything i can do in the meantime. I am sure its the stress of my fiancee leaving.

You can't be "sure" that it's just stress unless you take him to the vet and rule out any underlying health conditions. This is a very elderly cat, and if he is overweight as you say, his weight combined with his age will make him even more prone to potential health concerns. If he's not already in medical distress, his vomiting and lack of food may very quickly lead to an emergency situation. Please take him in for an exam before this has a chance of happening. Explain your financial situation, make payment arrangements, and get him some help. This is your responsibility as the guardian, albeit temporary, of this cat.

PLEASE find a way to take him to the vet. PLEASE! My Alex was overweight and when she stopped eating and started throwing up, it literally only took a few days for her to develop fatty liver disease. A life threatening condition! http://ibdkitties.net/fattyliver.html. I'm not exaggerating, this is very serious. And part of it may be stress but there is most likely something underlying going on that the stress just brought out everything to the open.

At that age the vet is the best advice. That said, you might look into some of the cat calming aids at the larger pet stores. A Feliway diffuser has helped me with much anxiety.

Please take the cat to a vet.....I thought that Natasha was stressed at first. She had definite health problems. It took the vet some time to find it.....Please go to a vet.....It will help the cat and yourself to know the reason. Cats don't do things without a good reason and they hide their health problems extremely well.
Go to a vet.....

I would agree with every other cat. Cats get stressed out easily. And stress can make them very sick, quickly. It is more dangerous that he is even a little overweight and the age he is. He really needs to see a Vet.

First I would call his regular Vet and explain the circumstances about your fiancee leaving for the army etc. Either his regular vet or you might be able to find some other vet that would give you a great discount (or let you pay later) because of the service your fiancee is giving to our Country.

Purring for your cat.

Are you in contact with your fiancee at all?

I see that he is 25 lbs. That is more than a bit overweight. This is very serious. Angel Alex knows all about this.

Can you get some Bach's Rescue Remedy? I've found it to be really useful to calm anxiety. A drop rubbed into the ear/nose/pawpads, and some either in the food or water. Do that for about a week. If it's stress related you should notice a difference.
