When do they stop growing?

I've heard so many differing opinions on when cats stop growing -- nine months, a year, that it's different for males than females, etc.

Coop's just about 13 months old now, and at times, he kinda looks like he's grown a teeny bit more. I know he's a little Chubber, but he just seems to be bigger all over. Maybe he's just filling out?

Anyone want to weigh in?

Lurch

I know I can, I- know I can!

Lurch stopped at 12 months or right around there. Once he started getting chubby, I knew it was either in prep for a growth spurt, or he had gotten out of kitten metabolism and achieved full size. He slimmed back down a bit but never got any bigger.

Rumble may have taken a little longer, like 14 months. I don't recall exactly. But it took until a full two years before he really filled out and looked "manly" (tomcat-y?). Now the boy is so buff! When you compare him and Lurch, it's obvious that Lurch still has some filling out to do, but he won't get any taller/longer.

Thanks for posting, Lurch! (You're a very handsome cat, BTW!) Coop's kinda at that chubby stage again. It still looks like baby chubs, though -- it's not muscle. So maybe he just has yet to fill out?

I've been wondering about that, too! Charlie and Leo are about 8 months old and they both seem to be going through a growth spurt. Charlie is about 9 lbs and Leo is 8 lbs. If they keep growing for another 6 months or so, how big will they get?!?!

Smudge and Shade are 16 months old and I'm not sure if they've stopped growing or not. They definately grew past 12 months of age. I would say that they have some filling out to do and Shade might have some more growing to do. I've always heard that cats continue to fill out until they are around 2 years, but I can't swear to it.

BK filled out a lot between 1 and 2 years. He was scrawny when he got here but he looks like a linebacker now!

Xena's reached her full size at about a year but was like a skinny teenager at about 9lb. She then filled out with muscle and put on about 2lb in weight over the next year and looked like a real warrior princess by the time she was 2 years old.

There are many opions on this, but generally they stop growing betweed one year and 18 months. I think they continue to mature in different ways. My Bugsy got thicker after he was one year old. He is a little chunky, but basically he's thick. It's hard to tell when they are kittens what size they will be.

Hobie stopped growing at one year, however he continued to fill out and physically mature until he was two years old. He's full grown now at 10lbs. Zelda, however, is truly teeny she's only about 5-6lbs and honestly she doesn't still seem to be growing. Only time will tell.
