I'm Bagheera and I'm half Persian. My daddy is Gomez and he mated with my mommy (a domestic shorthair) by mistake. Can anyone here tell? Oh, and since I'm only half I was wondering if I'm a lot less prone to the typical Persian problems?? Like kidney failure and respitory problems and stuff... I get little crusties in my eyes but now nearly as bad as daddy's! Since my daddy got cataracts at a very young age (3) , does that mean I can too? Are cataracts genetic?

Bagheera, you have a slightly persian look to you but luckily you have a longer nose/mouth so are unlikely to suffer from any of the respiratory problems that persians usually get. I'm not sure about the risks for cataracts and kidney failure. If they are more likely in persians then being a mix should reduce the risk but probably not completely eliminate it. There is a persians group on Catster that you could join and I bet they'd know loads about this stuff.
