Blood In Urine

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

I am wondering if anyone out there has ever dealt with a cat who has huge amounts of blood in their urine, but the vets can find no notable cause? The urine tests came back showing no infection, and no crystals. There was minor cellar debris, but the cause remains unknown. The blood (UTI) isn't responding to antibotics, (we've tried Clindamycin, Cefa-drops, Amoxidrops, Clavamox and Convenia, nothing works.) No noteable (or non-notable trauma for that matter,) has occured. Moki's temp dropped to near shock levels 98.4 on Saturday and he has been having a hard time keeping a normal constant temp since. It's currently 99.2. If Moki's temp drops below 98, his body will start to go into shock and we may lose him.

Anyone have any ideas?

P.S.
To get a better idea of the kind of blood we are talking about, please visit Moki's blog I forewarn you that the pictures of his urine samples might be upseting do to the amount of blood present. With that said, please keep in mind that Moki is still eating, drinking, and acting normal. It is as if he doesn't realize how sick he actually is.

The only time I ever saw that much blood in an animal's urine was from my horse. I had the vet out several times over a 2 or 3 day periodbut he became so weak and debilitated that I had to have him put down (sorry). I had an autopsy done and the the results showed leptospirosis....not sure if this helps, but good luck!

I just read Moki's history..sorry I even posted. You have had this cat tested for more than most cats are ever tested for and gone way beyond what most people would consider doing...again good luck

It's Stella. Just a quick thought, but when our male person's kidneys failed, he produced a lot of blood like this--it was quite horrible. And another human friend of ours had a kidney tumor and this was his first symptom. He is all recovered now. Our male person is on dialysis and is quite well, but that is not always an option for kitties. We are all purring for you and for this to stop! hug

We're so sorry you are going through this. We did a quick Google search(which you probably did awhile ago) and found out only that it could be a symptom of a tumor or FIC.

Purring for you. hug Please keep us posted.

I am thinking that we will most likely have a ultrasound done again tomorrow. The last one we had done gave no indications of tumors, or kidney failure, but that was about a year ago, so maybe something will show up if we run another.

The good news is that as of tonight there appears to be less blood in his urine. I posted a picture on Moki's blog of his latest sample, and when compared to the sample collected last night there is a vast difference. party

Now if only Moki continues to show signs of improvement!
