Heat Stroke

Don't bother- me, I'm- sleeping

Last summer I was accidently left outside in 110 degree heat. When mom returned, she thought I was dead and rushed me to the kitty ER.
Anyway, I had gotten heat stroke, but the vet got me back to normal.
Mom heard that when a cat gets heat stroke, they have a greater chance of getting it again. This is worrysome because it looks like we're moving to Palm Springs, California soon. The temperature there is at least 90 degrees from April to October, and gets above 120 in July. Even "cold" winter days like today it's around 90.
Mom's worried that I'll get heat stroke again and die. She knows to keep me in, put ice in my water, and have the AC on. Is there anything else she can do to make sure I stay cool?
Thanks for any advice.

Lucy, we are sure that if you are indoors with the AC and have plenty of cold water, you should be fine. Don't worry and enjoy the sunshine!

Lucy,
YES you are MUCH more susceptible to heat stroke now than a healthy cat who has never had heat stroke!
Ask your parents to provide you with a cool interior room of the house as your primary hang out spot.
On particularly hot days, have them wrap a bag of frozen veggies and place them under a light blanket on your bed for an extra cool napping place.
Also, when we get overheated, us kitties can paradoxically avoid the water we need - have your parents monitor this, and they can whet your appetite by carefully giving you some extra water with an eyedropper (just make sure they don't forcefully shoot it down into your lungs - just dribbles!)
You might also like an electrolyte replacement like Pedialyte - we ofen like the taste, and as an occasional treat on those really hot days, it can keep us more balanced.
You really should be just fine as long as your parents are sensible, keep you indoors, and keep you hydrated!
Best of luck!
Maxwell

Thanks for the replies.
This is what I have so far:
-Interior room, with AC/fan
-Eyedrops of H2O
-Frozen veggies on the bed-hey that's what mom used in my crate when I got rushed to the ER!
-Pedialite, the kind for kids? Or do they make some for felines?

Mom also keeps our food in the fridge or freezer during hot months.

Lucy, I LOVE ice cubes in my water, even in the winter time! You should try it. As soon as I hear those ice cubes tinkling against the water bowl, I come running even if I've been getting my beauty sleep.

Me too, Daphne!! I ALWAYS get a few ice cubes. I think the water just tastes better when it's real cold.

Lucy--the other cats had great advice! Hope you like your new home!!
