What are your opinions on your cats seeing otherworldly things?
Since my precious Nana passed away last week Spazzy has been fixated on a spot a little bit above my head. I figured he was just being a nut until I went to volunteer at the humane society and every single cat there did the same thing! They are definatly not looking at me, it's a spot a good bit above my head and Spazzy was even meowing at whatever it is. It's kinda comforting in a strange way though, I must admit.
He and my Nana liked each other alot and I really like thinking that she is still around me.

Anyone else have any stories like this?

If this is a new thing that never happened before, that's great! How intriguing!!

However, it is common for cats to look over your head. I guess it is a way for them to connect with you without showing aggression by looking into your eyes. Oscar used to do it to me, and I do it to cats when I want to give them non-intimidating attention.

My cat has always been a blinker, he will look into my eyes and then give a slow blink. He has never done the staring over my head thing. Neither have the cats at the shelter, thats why I figured they must be seeing something! It's a new thing just since my Nana passed.
Spazzy actually was sitting with me last night and all of a sudden stood up whipped his head around and was staring above my head purring. It was like someone (my nana?) had spoken to him.
Very interesting I must say!!!

Spazzy....hallo......Jan here (and Tambolina)

Strange stories...? When my cat Lucy died, my younger cat, Conrad, used to go out to the front garden, to the centre bed where he and Lucy used to play...... he would WALK out to the centre bed and then, when he got there, he would start jumping around and running about........I found it very odd.....it seemed to me that he was either:

a) seeing Lucy and playing with her

or

b) doing magic thinking and hoping that if he jumped around a bit she would come back and play......

I never knew why he did it.....but I loved it......it made Lucy seem close.......

I believe in those things. Andy seemed like he was looking at something a few times after Ava passed. I felt her presence a few times. When I would lay in bed and think about her (before she passed) she would appear with in a minute, everytime, no matter what room I was in. It was as if she could read my mind. After she passed, I'd lay around a lot, thinking of her, and sometimes Andy would look up, like he saw something...who knows, could be our minds way of comforting us....

My mommy believes too. Sometimes she feels little foot steps on her down comforter. I'm not on the bed and it wakes her up.

She knows it is either Sissy or Sugar depending on where she feels the footsteps.

Call it what you may she believes they come to visit and check on their mommy.

i believe this to! i thought i was crazy lol

my g-ma died in my house aroud 30 years ago (b4 i was born)
and like once every 2 or 3 days lil one will be sleeping or doing whtever and then all of a sudden she jumps up! her tail is straight in the air looking all racoon (puffy) and runs into the middle room (her safe spot) and peaks out of it around the corner hissing and growling like crazy. while she does all this she looks through the air like she is chasing a fly but there is never anything there. this usually lasts for aroud 5-10 mins but it had lasted the whole night b4. and there aint no brining her out of the middle room wen this happens lol...i got a couple of good scratches trying lol.

and now that u said somthing!

lil one was never fasinated on going outside... 4 months ago my oldest cat (14 yr old indoor/outdoor cat, lil one is indoor) died in my driveway for reasons unknown.

but ever since then lil one trys to sneak outside when the door opens and she goes straight to the driveway area when she gets out.

Just an update. Spazzy is still looking at the spot above my head. He usually will do it at night when I am in bed thinking about my Nana, he will stare at the a spot above my head and then grab a toy and start tossing it in the air. Maybe she is trying to play with him. I think it's pretty cute. The other night he was fast asleep and I said out loud "Nana if your here give me some kind of sign, and spazzy jumped up and then started arching his back and purring like he was being petted! It was pretty crazy!

Oh Spazzy........Jan and Tambolina here........my Grandad Conrad (the one I spoke about in this thread when he was a young cat) died on August 3rd........Tambolina was his heart's darling.......but she never seems to do anything or see anything.....but I have heard him (I think (hope) I have heard him)......once I was SO sure that I had heard him that I looked in all the cupboards in the kitchen and in all the rooms on the ground floor where I THOUGHT I had heard him.......

Don't know......perhaps they come back, perhaps not.......but it gives comfort and I LOVE to hear about those who are SURE that they come back........
