The vet just called with my blood test results. He said he couldn't ask for any better results - everything was exactly what it should be. YAY!
If I'm still not feeling better in a few days, I might have to go back for an X-ray. But I just ate a little bit and while I've been mostly sleeping this afternoon, that's pretty normal for my schedule. Mom's hoping I'll be up for playing later tonight.
Thanks again friends!!

Hi friends! Since you guys showed just how strong those purrs can be, I was wondering if you would purr for a friend of mine.
Biggles (http://www.catster.com/cats/284781) isn't feeling well, and is at the vet's office today. He's having tests done and they think he might be developing kidney disease. :( His mom is very worried.
Thanks everyone - you are all the best. Catster is such a great place!

Oh, kitties, I don't know if anyone is up right now, but I need some advice. Monida keeps going to her litter box, but not much seems to be coming out. She had a little bit of diarrhea, but not much.
Then she walked up to me panting. This freaked me out. I was just about to rush her to the e-vet when she stopped. But now she's trying to use the litter box without much success and licking her lips like she's going to vomit.
Aside from all this, she is acting fine and just ate a bunch. I did give her some different food that might have upset her tummy.
Do I need to rush her to the vet? I'll keep an eye on her for awhile, and I'll go if I think anything is amiss, but if you have any advice, please let me know!

WOW! Look at all my friends who stopped by for a late-night party in my diary last night! Thank you so much friends for all your comments, care and concern. I really can't tell you how much it means to me! I'll let mom give you an update now.
Hi friends! Thank you so much for everything! Sorry this update is late - I'm pretty tired from the party! :) I feel bad that I had such a freak out, and I was about to delete the diary entry when you all showed up. I love your comments, so I just had to leave it!
This morning, Monida woke me up (about an hour after I went to bed ...) by running back and forth across the apartment, springboarding off my bed, the couch, the counter, etc. She was chattering at the birds and her eyes would go all black and ZOOM! off again! She did this for about an hour and a half. She hasn't had the zoomies like that in quite awhile, so I thought it was a good sign.
She did go to the litter box a few times, and when I checked it, there was pee and tiny pieces of poo. So she's still having some trouble. But she ate more this morning then I've seen her eat in awhile. Still not quite enough for my liking, but an improvement.
I feel pretty confident that it's the food that's giving her an upset stomach. I've had problems with Wellness packets before, but on Tuesday I was in a hurry to grab some wet food that I knew she'd eat, just to get her to eat something. (That was the day I called the vet because she was hardly eating at all.) I've fed her a couple of the packets the past few days.
So, with all this, I didn't take her to the vet this morning, but I am watching her very carefully. If she continues to do the straining/panting thing (which I haven't seen her do again), or stops eating again, I will take her in right away. I live just a few minutes from the emergency vet, and the plus side is it's housed in my regular vets' office, so all my records are on file there.
Sorry this is so long! And I'm sorry about my panic attack! It was just late, and something I hadn't witnessed before. Thank you all for your purrs and positive thoughts! I love all you guys!!
For those in the hurricane's path, please stay safe!! I'm so worried about you!! I can't imagine how scary it must be. All my prayers to you and your families!

Hey everyone - just a quick update. I had to take Mo to the emergency vet this afternoon. I'll write more when I get a chance.
Mo is not constipated - she had almost no poo in her colon. Her intestines are inflamed, so it could be colitis, and switching foods might have set it off.
More worrisome is that the vet saw some bunching in her intestines in the xray. That means she may have eaten a string, and it's causing problems. However, it wasn't as bad in the other xray with a different view. The vet said it's very possible it's a foreign body, but if it were she would expect some vomiting, of which mo has had none, or a fever, which she also doesn't have.
She sent me home with some medicine - metronidazole - to see if that will help calm her intestines. If it doesn't work within 48 hours, I need to take her back in.
So that's what I know right now. I really hope it's just the colitis.

First things first - I am purring BIG TIME for all my friends on the East Coast. Be safe everyone!
Second - I am officially putting myself up for adoption. I no longer wish to live with this evil woman I once called mom.
First on Wednesday, she takes me to the vet where they STEAL MY BLOOD! I thought that was the worst I must endure. Oh, if only I were right.
Then earlier today, she came home, and I greeted her at the door. How nice to see you mom, you don't usually come home for dinner ... why are you grabbing my carrier?! NOOOO!
Do you know what I went through at the vet's office? First the vet squeezed my belly, and then she said she couldn't really tell if I had a lot of poo in my colon because I'm "a big gal." What?!
Then she made me do x-rays. THEN, as if all that wasn't enough, she tried to open my mouth and look for string under my tongue. When I wouldn't let her she called me grumpy and uncooperative. I had some names to call her, but mom wouldn't let me.
Now mom just tried to give me my medicine. It's TERRIBLE! It made me drool and was sticky, and oh, just plain awful. Now I'm gonna go lay in front of my window and ignore mom. My only consolation is that while mom tried to give me my medicine, she ended up taking a dose of it herself! AHAHAHAH!
From mom -
Does anyone have any tips on how to give liquid metronidazole? I'm supposed to give it to her for seven days and I don't think I can do this. I tried to give it to her tonight, but I ended up wearing most of it. I got some in her, so I hope that helps. But it makes her drool something fierce. It was all over me, her, the bathroom, the kitchen, my wall. Is that normal?

Monida is back to not eating and just laying around. It's also really hot here, so that's probably affecting her. I wish I knew what symptoms are related to her sickness and what are from the heat.
She also still has diarrhea, but is still having trouble going. But the vet did say it would take a little while for the medicine to kick in.
So that's what we've got going on today. I feel so bad for my little girl.

So yesterday Monida ate almost nothing. Finally, on advice from Angel Alex, I boiled a chicken breast and tried feeding it to her. She ate just a few bites. I was starting to get really nervous.
I was able to give her nearly a full dose of her medicine, so I was pretty proud of that. Monida was not quite so happy.
Around 2 a.m., she ate a little kibble, and kept eating a little bit periodically throughout the night so that was good. But she's still pretty lethargic, and while she had just a little bit of diarhhea yesterday, she hasn't really used her litter box since.
Anyway, the reason I'm upset is I spoke to the vet on the phone today and told him all of that information. He hadn't even looked at her xrays from this weekend. He didn't seemed concerned at all, basically saying since she had gained weight over the summer, that this probably wasn't a big deal since she has some she can lose. He said if she's not eating by Thursday to bring her in and they might put a feeding tube in her. I'm not sure why he would wait so long and then jump to something so drastic.
I asked if maybe the medicine was causing her to not eat. He said maybe, and I could stop giving it to her if I wanted, even though I've only given her two doses, and I'm supposed to give it to her for seven days. And he said this without actually looking at her xrays.
I'm not home to see if Monida is eating this afternoon, but I'll check tonight. And I have no plans on waiting until Thursday to bring her back in if she's still lethargic and not eating. She may have weight to lose, but this isn't the right way to do it.

Hi kitties! Do you want a great game to play with your parents? On the day they call to make a vet appointment for you, act completely normal. Zoom around the house, eat a big breakfast and use the litterbox as appropriate. I've done this twice now, and the reaction I get is awesome!
Unfortunately, that didn't stop her from making an appointment at a new vet today. :( I have to go in at 4:15. Not as early as mom would like, but earlier than Thursday.
I'm gonna go play and eat and see if I can't convince her I'm fine.
Oh - I forgot to tell you - I'm also practicing for Talk Like a Pirate Day by walking around squinting - Arrrgh Matey!

Well, I took Monida to her appointment at the new vet, and we are no closer to a diagnosis than before we went in. This vet also doesn't seem too concerned about her not eating. He gave her some prescription food to see if we can get the diarrhea under control.
Now a new problem has arised. Monida's left eye is all squinty and cloudy. The vet seems to think it's from the herpes virus and is flaring up because of all the stress of everything else. So he gave me some lysine, which I know Sobe's dad has used with good luck.
So I'm not sure what the next step is. I guess I'll closely watch her for a few days and then re-evaluate.
I should mention a couple things that I keep forgetting to mention - Monida does not have a fever, and she is still drinking plenty of water. She eats a little bit, so she hasn't completely stopped, but she's eating less than a quarter of what she should be. I wish we could just figure out what's wrong!
