Well, not only is today Mardi Gras, but for those of us that have polish heritage, it is PACZKI DAY! ohh mom gets these yeasty fried donuts that have all kinds of filling in them once a year. If you have never had an authentic one.....TRY IT - they are not like regular donuts. They are like gold around here. And of course she had one sitting by her place at the table to have with a coffee, and while she was getting that cup o coffee, I generously decided to help her reduce the calorie content of that paczki, and licked all the powdered sugar off of the top of it. Never let it be said that I do not try & help out. I am a giver..... I do not really get table food, but I am one of those rare kitties with a sweet tooth, and I took full advantage of an unguarded paczki. Hey at least I did not eat the filling mom.....I saved it for you. And for my Zeke - I am sending you a bowl of seafood gumbo & a catnip custard filled paczki. purrs my friends!

well, I guess it is my royal responsibility to check out the new vet. I go tomorrow morning - checkup & shots. I will be 7 soon, so wonder how they work with more seasoned kitties. Mom says they use the same traveling cardiologist Tigger has been seeing, so that is good. And the girl mentioned that they have gotten about 6 clients within the past few weeks from where we are leaving. That says we are not alone in our thoughts. So, keep ya paws crossed & we willlet ya know how it goes.

Well - mom was very impressed by this new vet. I however WAS NOT. They put things in places they should not go, she poked areas that NO ONE shall poke upon my royalness. Then they took my blood & my wee! Oh how I suffered humiliation. However mom has been prattling on about how this was the most thorough exam ever, and the vet lady explained what she was checking for with each prod. My nodes, my spine for tenderness, my mammry glands, my feet! she said I have beautiful clear sparkling green eyes. (course that did not make up for the poking) Anyhow, mom is pleased that vet says I look great, a nice 8 pounds, and very healthy. She will call tomorrow about the blood work. She said I had a few tiny acnes on my chin, which she removed, and told mom that I had to give up my favorite plastic purple bowl from when I was a little tiny kitten. Stainless, glass or ceramic only she says. But we understand. She only gives a distemper shot every 3 years, and asked so many questions about what kind of litter we use, to the brands of all the food we eat, and talked very softly to me the whole time. The place was nice & quiet - no barking doggies (nothing against doggies, but they sceer me)and so clean. And the best part - IT WAS CHEAPER!!! not alot but hey a few bucks will buy me another bag of treats! So next in line is Tigger, then Mom is bringing Smithwick back again, cause she says she doesn't feel right about that other vet. So dependent upon your viewpoint, today was a success for mom or for me an abomination. winks & purrs your royal Maizyness.

Our new vet called to say my bloodwork was fine. My thyroid was a little "in the gray area" she said, but nothing she is worrying about, but will keep a yearly check on. My wee, however, she says is prob the most concentrated wee she has seen - that I win a prize for that. Hmm but that does not sound so good. I have no crystals or anything, but she says it is very alkaline, and I am predisposed to developing an issue with crystals or stones in the future. After learning about Tigger's issue (she has not seen the boys yet) She is going to help mom do some food tweaking to help us all. Then when mom briefly told her about the situation with Smitty's tummy & the other vet, she asked "what did his blood test say?" well, when she heard that the old vet did not do that, she was not happy, and wants to see him to make sure there is nothing going on with his tummy & stuff. Mom asked her what causes the urine concentration & high ph, and Dr L says it is common, and is not from the food as we are eating good grain free noms. So we will be working to make sure everyone is eating the best for them. She talked to mom a good long time on the phone, and said mom had excellent questions, and not to worry. So mom says for me not to worry either. Oh and the old vet never ever suggested that I have a urinalysis to check anything since I am over 5 years old - so mom is so glad that when Dr L suggested it, that she said yes, give her the works! because after everything Tigger went through - well nuff said. We had loyalty to that place, as mom was a client there for over 30 years with different pets, but sadly - things changed so much there, and mom is happy with Dr. Lebbin. Shout out for The Cat Clinic!

I want to wish every momma well. My momma is really the only momma I know. She took care of me since I was only about a week old, and has always loved me so much. I do my best to never growl at her - only at everyone else, and I sleep on her legs each nite to keep her warm. I help her eat cake or cheese nips when she has them, and always taste her glass of water to make sure it is not too cold. It is so good to have someone that loves you for who you are, and does not want to change you to somekitty you are not. purrs for my momma, and purrs to all of you sweet mommas out there!

Been a week since we were here. I had to celebrate my birthday late, because Mom & The Dad actually had the nerve to go on a short vacation for a few days. THEY LEFT ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! I did get wished a happy day, but comeon what about bowing to me all day? But momma says that things were so crazy at work, and between having 2 sick employees, and one of our trucks needing a major repair - they needed a BREAK. So I guess it was ok, cause Mom is much happier. A big big thank you to all my friends that sent lovely birthday gifts & wishes. Also for my GOTCHA day today! I was such a scared little teeny girl, and mom took such good care of me. I will always be grateful to the young man that found me & brought me to the shelter. I am sure I would not be here without that chain of events.
On other news, we are so upset to see more of our friends leaving in droves. I always thought it was the kitties that made it family, and mom doesn't pay so much attention to some of the garbage that graces the homepage now...but we miss our friends, and it is really hard to always try & visit all their separate pages & stuff. We only hope maybe some will come back. There are new little kitties coming on here that deserve to have a chance to see how great Catster is.....
But everyone has a right to how they feel... So again my friends thank you from the bottom of my furry heart for all your wishes!

Gotcha my sweet girl

While this is a few days past your gotcha day, it still holds lots of love. Several times the beginning of that summer, human sister brought kitties home from work at the shelter to "watch" over the weekends. Of course they were all adorable. Then one day she walked in with this shoebox...that was making this little teeny mewing sound. She said "Mom, this one is only a week old. The guy that found her was trying to feed her, but it was too much for him so he brought her into the shelter, and without us, she won't make it..but it will be a long foster until she gets big enough to spay & go up for adoption." Well, I took 1 look under that blanket, and my heart melted. That little face, so scared & needing love....I was hooked right then. So we took turns every 2 hours, feeding you with an eye dropper. Then you learned to drink from a little bottle. I wiped your hiney to help you go potty, I cleaned your little face. Along the way, I totally fell completely in love with you. As you got bigger, your tough little personality came through. You growled when you ate, you stole a bite from a sandwich, and you definitely did not like very many people. We kept on loving you so you knew you did not have to growl, that food would always be there. Then came time for you to be spayed & to give you up. There was no way I was gonna let you go my sweet girl. When I took you to get spayed, I cried all the way home - I was afraid to leave you, that you would forget me. You were crying in the cage when I had to leave. I had to wait 2 days - what if something went wrong? what if they put you up for adoption instead of holding you for me? They were 2 of the longest days. When they brought you out to me, you mewed to me so loud, and grabbed my neck. Even the lady there got all teary as I cried holding on to you. As the years have gone by, I learned what you like, what you don't, where you like to be scritched the best. You made The Dad into a cat lover, and every night, you sleep right by my legs. I hope to have many many more years with you my sweet kitty-girl. You have brought such joy into my life, and even though I know you would probably be happy to be an only cat, you tolerate the boys just for me. Momma loves you so very much my Maizy-cat!
