Arrival Story: Our home was too empty. We recently lost our beloved Jetta to cancer. She was our first cat ever. We lasted 10 days without a kitty. I went to visit the wonderful people at the Watertown (WI) Humane Society. They had so many lovable kitties needing homes. But there was this one really scared little female. The volunteer handled her with big leather gloves. My heart when out to her. She was found on the mean streets of Wisconsin in February... in a very cold winter. I asked to spend some time with her in the bonding room. She was so fearful of everything. I sat on the floor (me- in my suit) and put her on my lap. She just stayed and hung on seeming to need my warmth. I melted. We adoped her as soon as was humanly possible. We brought her home and for quite a while, she would only come to us if we were laying down. Times have really changed. She's a bit more assertive, and actually seems to run the place. We're delighted that she's grown less fearful. She even came down to greet the ladies on Thursday night. She just showed herself to them for 30 seconds, then ran away. But it was a huge step for her.
Bio: Shyla is a natural born hunter. I love animals. We are sometimes at odds about her role with respect to other animals. We feed and water birds. Shyla knows she is NOT to hunt birdies. That said, she's brought a live one in the house. She let it go and it was up to me to get it to fly back out. Her most recent escapade was to bring in a chipmunk (she carried it like a kitty baby) and take it down into the family room, let it go, and chase the poor thing. Needless to say, she is on double secret probation.

Whigger sent me a new toy this last week. It only took Mom & Dad over a WEEK to get it ready to play with, and I love it!
My fiance, Whigger mailed a mouse to me. This mouse moves around on the floor, stops turns and starts again. I could see that Mom had something in her hands and I think the little mouse listened to the thing in Mom's hands.
Anyway, I'm an old feral girl. You have to work pretty hard to con me. So I watched and watched, till the mouse would not longer move. Then I pounced on it. I batted it around and smacked it a good one! Its a lot of fun. Mom "charged" it again and I watched it till it ran out of juice, then I attacked it again! I spend last evening beating the thing up after Mom charged it. Mom said something about trying it in the middle of a catnip party... Mmmmm, sounds good to me!
Thank you Whigger for the wonderful toy! You sent treats to me too and those are really good. Salmon is my favorite!!! Mom showed me the angel with the kitty, but she told me that it is not a toy, so I've left it along. There was something in the box called Chocolate. Mom said it's bad for kitties but very good for Mom's. Anyway, thank you for the whole box of stuff. I hope you get to play outside and take care of those squirrels BFS (Big Fangy Smile). I love you and I always will.
kitty kissed to Whigger and a big Shyla hello to all you Catsters out there! Shyla
Okay, I went on VayKayshen. And I don't like them!
I went to Gramma's house. I spent a whole week hiding from her in her nice cool basement. But I was so lonely for Mom & Dad... Gramma is a very nice lady. She gave me warm water (my very favorite) 3-4 times a day. She came & sat in a chair down there and talked to me, even tho she didn't know where I was. I was just a little too shy to go up by her.
So, I've been on a lap every chance I get, now that I'm back home. Mom tells me that Gramma is a really great gal and I really missed out on some quality lap time. All I know is I"M NOT GOING ON VAY KAYSHEN AGAIN ANYTIME SOON (unless it's to see Whigger).
Mom told me that she knew of a dog who's tail turned green every St pat's day. They blamed it on leprechauns... I think those little leprechauns sound really tasty! My tail isn't green, is it Mom? No? Good!
Did you see my gifties from my true love, Whigger?
I get a heart shaped box of chocolate covered mouse heads and a valentine. Oh, if he only knew how much my little heart loves him. I wouldn't need a single thing, except to be his girl. Don't get me wrong, every girl likes to get nice things from her guy. But Whigger is all the present I need.
I've been training my Dad to sit next to me in the chair. When he sits down, he hogs the whole thing! Then I come along and plunk my behind down and he scoots over. We watch the morning news and have our first cup of coffee. After that, he leaves to get ready for werk.
I've also been sitting on the top of Mom's chair, right above her head. It makes her nervous... and that makes me laugh. I like making her nervous.
