My Story: Bringing up Daddy

hello world!

OK, so the grumpy human and I have been together for a little over two weeks. It took a while, but I have learned how to manage him effectively. To tell the truth, he is kind of slow and more than a bit of a soft touch so it's really not that hard. For example, I have learned how to remind him of my bridge-brother Joshua which makes the primate cry. I have filed that information away to use to my advantage in case there is ever an issue concerning a seafood morsel. I have also decided that I like to sleep snuggled with or on top of Dad. He seems to like it too, not that what he thinks matters to me. Then I started thinking about things that I can do to make sure I keep this job.

Which led me to realize that this family needed a good feline-human tradition, and that it was up to me to institute that tradition. I decided to see if Dad were trainable. I have concluded that training humans, while frustrating at times, can be very rewarding. In our case, I taught Dad to throw a ball he had made out of a sheet of paper. I tracked, attacked, and forced the "training aid" into submission, returned to Dad and dropped the thing next to him. Pops picked that ball up and tossed it again. I crept on my little cat feet and captured the ball. I brought the thing back to the old boy and sat on my silent haunches and watched the lightbulb go on in his head as he once again threw the sphere. I then moved on and ambushed the toy. We repeated the excercise several times, and Daddy came through each time. Had I not finally hidden the ball, he would still be throwing that thing. Anyhow, I am so very proud that my very "slow" (if you know what I mean) Dad has learned a really useful skill.

Boyoboyoboy I have talked for a long time. It's time for a nap.

So dad came home tonight with a plastic bag (an open invitation). This particular bag had a cookie from Quiznos that he did not eat for lunch. I guess you know what happened next.... and it was GOOD and BIG. I even figured out how to get the saran wrap off the cookie. Another favorite food group. I'll tell you, it is cool to be a kitten and discover all this new stuff!

A Poem

Daddy bought me a catnip mousie
I get to chase it around the housie
When I give it to Dad, he tosses it now, see
But when I can't find it, I feel lousy.

Sometimes Pops gives me a treat
Sometimes with cheese, sometimes meat
I always finish it up real neat
So Dad will give me something else to eat.
