Basic info for Nobi: She has three black paws, a black tail, black ears, and a black nose. She has one brown paw (rear right) and charming yellow eyes. She is medium sized, even at full grown, and has very soft fur. Her micro-chip # is 0A10282A38. Nobi was meant to be in our home. We were looking for a young kitten, and hadn't planned on adopting for at least another month or more. But when my husband saw "Baby" (as she was named then) in the window, he asked to see her. As soon as she was let out of her pin, she walked right past me and the volunteer and crawled into his lap. We took her home two hours later. Nobi (as we have now named her) has now made our home her own.

Piper and Nobi were not getting much better. When my sister, Rebeka, said she was wanting to adopt a cat, I told her about Piper. Rebeka and her husband, Andy decided to adopt Piper.

Nobi has re-established her ownership of this home. She sleeps on the bed again. She plays around the house. She follows us when we move from room to room. She cuddles on our laps when we sit on the couch. Nobi seems much happier.

We made a good effort to help Piper and Nobi learn to peacefully live together. Unfortunately, it just didn't work. It got to the point where they tolerated each other as long as they could avoid each other, but it was never peaceful or friendly. We have learned that Nobi is an "only cat" type of animal, and that's that. Her personality demands she live as a solitary animal. The best way for us to love her is to help her live as best she can the way she will be happy.

Piper is back. Piper was DH and my cat before we got married. When we moved from NC back to UT, we had planned to bring Piper with us but she got outside the morning we left. My step-mom agreed to care for her until our next trip to NC when we could pick her up.

Nobie and Piper are learning to live together. They aren't happy about it (especially Nobi), but they are co-existing. They still growl and hiss at each other most every time they see each other. But, they are progressing.

Nobi is spending a lot of time outside. The weather is great, so I leave the back door wide open during the day. Nobi is free to roam is she pleases, and she enjoys it greatly. She's been getting extra loves lately, to ensure she knows she's loved and cared for. I love having her cuddle in bed with me at night.

Nobi caught a bird the other day. Thank heavens the door was closed when she brought it home, otherwise she would have marched it in the house. The bird was still alive, and struggling to be free. DH went out and made her let it go, and it took off quickly. We pet her to tell her we were proud of her and grateful for her gift, even if we didn't really want anything to do with it! This kitty is becoming a great huntress. We better watch out.

We got a new litter box. It's the rolling one. I like it because I can A) clean it every day, B) it takes two minutes, C) I don't get my hands dirty at all (but I still wash them when I'm finished). It has made a big difference in our home for Nobi and for the humans.

Nobi and the baby are getting to know each other better. A couple of times as I am rocking the baby to relax him for a nap or bedtime, Nobi will come curl up with us in the rocking chair. I'm in heaven, sitting there with my favorite little boy and my favorite furry face. Now that the baby is crawling, he has been "chasing" Nobi. She, of course, stays out of his reach just fine. But she seems to play with him by running back and forth where he is, encouraging him to chase her.

Guess who just came and curled up on my lap?

She's been more snuggly lately. When I'm on the computer she will come lay in my lap. When I'm on the couch she will lay next to me. At night, she will come under the covers with me.

She still has her daily outside time, but has been spending more time inside. Not that I blame her, since it is bitter cold out there. I think today we are still in the single digits.

Nobi turns six years old this month. Maybe we'll have a little party for her. Our family, and her favorite Auntie Heidi, and Q-tip (Heidi's cat). I'll have to find something special for her for her birthday treat.
