My first entry

Well, let me start with my name and background (even though it is stated on my page). I am Isis and I was adopted on 7/9/2008. My mom and dad saw me and decided to really think about adopting me. Interestingly, mom had celebrated Athena's birthday on the 7th instead of her actual birthday, july 11th. If my new family hadn't have left the house for my sister's (mixed-up) birthday, they wouldn't have found me. We don't know how she could have mixed up the date, but if she hadn't i probably wouldn't be alive. But here I am, taking the abuse of being the new one in the house from my schnauzer sister, Athena. I will post pics of us together soon. I hope athena accepts me soon, because i can't keep sneaking around afraid of her jumping on me.
I really like it here, i have everything i ever wanted, especially two laps to lay on and get all the cuddling i want.
I have already learned to communicate through the laptop. I hang around it because this little arrow thing amuses me when it moves across the screen. When mom was emailing dad, asking if i should be locked in the office on the first day i was left alone with Athena, I typed 999999999999986 on the email. Mom took this as "nein" (this means "no" in dad's first language) and then, in case mom didn't understand, she should 86 that idea. She understood it and Athena and I did fine, as far as they know.
So that's my new family-two full blooded, pure Germans, and the two mixed ones - me and mom.
Enough typing for now. I have to save some stuff for later.

Isis went to the rainbow bridge this morning....

We don't know what happened. We heard a scratch and her fall from the kitchen counter and then a funny sound was let out. We both ran to her and she couldn't move. I called the vet and got ready to run her into him when she stopped breathing. I refused to accept that she was gone, but the vet said she had passed. We don't know how she fell in such a way to have broken her neck. The vet thought she might have had a seizure.
The hard part is looking at all of her belongings. The many scratching posts and the furniture she destroyed. I'd let her tear ALL of the furniture up for one more hour with her.
We have put her favorite toys and treats with her and are getting ready to bury her in the back yard. I don't know how we will ever find a cat half as amazing as Princess Isis. From the little sounds she made to the certain pieces of furniture she chose to destroy. She is truly an amazing creature. We are glad to have had the time with her we did have.

Thank you to everyone who has sent something

Thank you to everyone who has sent Isis thoughts, prayers, paw mail, rosettes, and/or other items. You have no idea how much it means to us. I want to give a special thank you to Taag for the wings and to Lacy for offering to take care of Isis until we can all be together again.
As for Isis, when we buried her, it was warm and sunny. Later that day it got cold and rainy. I couldn't handle thinking of her being alone in the cold ground and then saying "goodbye" again when we sell the house. We had her body exhumed and took her to the crematorium. She should be back with us just in time to celebrate what would have been her first birthday. We searched for the perfect urn - just as unique and beautiful as she was. I feel better knowing she can be with us, no matter where we live.
As for her new adopted brother, Apollo, he has so many of her mannerisms, it is uncanny. He has had some health problems and could have died it we had not adopted him when he did. He had a severe cold that was going to progress into pneumonia. He had a couple of sneezes before we left the shelter, but by the evening had developed into severe breathing problems and sneezing blood. I hated to adopt another cat so quickly, but I needed the distraction from the pain. Apollo has been to the vet and is doing better already after we started him on some antibiotics.
Each day gets a little easier, but when someone mentions Isis, I start crying, no matter if i am in public or at home. I was never a cat person until we adopted her and now I can't live without a cat. I think she was the only cat out there that could have converted me so quickly to being a cat lover. There will never be another cat like her.

Isis's Birthday

Today would have been Isis's first (estimated) birthday. Her urn arrived just yesterday. It is so beautiful, just like she was. We will post a pic when we get her ashes back.
Last week, when she was still alive, I had hoped to get her a toy and some of her favorite snacks for her birthday/easter. But instead I went shopping today for some leather cord to go around her urn and put her tag on it.
I still can't believe she is gone. So full of life and literally, seconds later, she is gone. I had so many plans for her. She'll still get to move with us, wherever we move to next, just in her urn. I am grateful that we will always be able to take a part of her with us.
I ask for signs that she is okay, and they always come through. Whether it is a comment on her page, a commercial on tv, or a song playing on the radio.
In honor of her birthday, I laid out kitty snacks on the sidewalk for some stray cat to take. I don't know what else to do to honor her memory.

Isis's Ashes

Isis's ashes (try to say that three times fast) finally came home this morning. We ordered her tag to go around her urn, so hopefully we will be able to post a pic next week.
It feels good to know she is back home, its just so hard knowing she is in a tiny little marble container. I really miss picking her up and holding her. I miss her attacking any sandwich i had and trying to keep it for herself. I miss being woken up by her laying on my chest. She just made our lives so much brighter and now she is lighting up the bridge. We MISS YOU, ISIS!
