indoors Arrival Story: We brought Pixie home on Saturday, June 28th. My husband had gone to the pet store the week before and told me that a rescue organization had an abundance of kittens, so I went to see them the following week. Mary, who also fostered Pebbles and Joy, asked me to take Pixie (then named Connie) home for a week to foster her. Yeah, right! Mary thought she was using psychology on me. After playing with the kittens for a couple of hours, I went home and casually told my husband about my time with the kittens, how Pixie had unique markings, and what Mary said. He then mentioned that Quincy, our dog, chewed and broke his retractable leash during their walk, so now we had an excuse to go back to the pet store! They waived the adoption fee since they knew us, but we left them a donation in their jar anyway. Bio: Pixie and her mama and brother were pulled from a kill-shelter when the kittens were three weeks old. Her brother has been adopted but her mama, a gray tabby with white paws, is still with Mary. She was about 10 weeks when we got her so we gave her the birthdate of April 15, 2008. Tax Baby! Lives Remaining: 9 of 9
Well, looks like I have Plasma Cell Pododermatitis (Pillow Foot), or plump piggies, just like what Sofie had early last year. My pal Tasha knows alot about this stuff!
Now we have to go pick up some Doxycycline at the pharmacy. When Sofie took that stuff last year, her paw pads went back to normal and haven't plumped up again since.
We don't think it's the brand of litter we use. After Sofie was diagnosed with it last year we changed the litter. It hasn't stopped me from eating or playing.
The vet was happy to see my weight at 8lbs and said my name suits my weight or maybe it's my weight that suits my name. The technician was funny. She's kinda new and had never seen me before. She loved all the colors of my fur and then grabbed a bunch of her hair and said she had been trying unsuccessfully to get it colored just like mine!
Oh, and just when the technician was getting ready to take my temperature, I decided to express myself. How convenient!
I'll let you know when my foot pads are deflated back to normal.
Our order for two of the Fleece Catnip Bunny Foot Kicker toys arrived today and we went crazy over them. One of them is brown with polka dots, which matches my poncho, and the other one is blue with fishies!
We have a problem, we need more so we can share, so we're off to order two more for now! Huey likes them too, so we're only going to be able to play with them when he's busy doing something else!
Today is my 3rd birthday! The last few years sure went by fast.
This morning at breakfast, instead of waiting for the food bowls to be filled, I jumped up on the cat tree and cried at Mom. She knew I wanted treats, so I got some Kitty Kaviar. If I could, I'd eat the whole can!
One thing that hasn't changed is that I still like to crawl under the bed at night with Mom and sleep on her chest with my tail on her face before I turn around. But, I never stay there for more than ten minutes or so because it gets too warm so I leave. Then, in the morning, I paw my way back under the covers by myself and end up sleeping for a long time between Mom's legs. The other morning she didn't want to get up to get ready for work because I was so comfortable, but it was either that or listen to Reebok continuously howl for breakfast!
Life is still good, except for that Huey dood! He's afraid of me, which makes me happy! We have to spend so much time supervising him we don't get as much computer time. I hope this changes soon because we want more new pictures taken of us so we could fill up all that extra space we have now.
Thank you for your comments, pawmails, gifts, and most of all, your friendship! You made my birthday extra special!
Don't forget to grab your goodie bag of Pixy Stix!
