Arrival Story: Bliss showed up with two brothers on a wintry January night on our deck--begging for food--while still a kitten. I scooped all three up, and scooted them down to the warm downstairs where I closed the door to the upstairs to keep them from having to interact with the three cats we already had. I got to know all three really well over the next three months, and absolutely fell in love with Bliss. He was less agressive and sweeter than his brothers: a true beta male. He got his name because whenever I held him he got an expression on his face of pure kitty ecstasy. When we introduced the three to our resident three cats we found out, sadly, that the two more agressive brothers couldn't get along with our older male cat, and had to give them away. But I wouldn't have let go of Bliss for the world. His mellow nature paid off, as he got along well with the older male. I thought he would miss his brothers, but I think he had gotten tired of being pushed around by them. He has had my heart ever since.

Bio: Bliss was an incredible blessing in my life, and though not trained as such he was a true therapy cat. I've struggled for many years with several--at the time undiagnosed--tick-bourne diseases, and I credit my survival in a large part to his sweet steady influence. He would always demand that I go to bed with him if I was tempted to stay up late, and demanded a lap any time that I really needed rest but didn't want to. And he turned those rests from a drudgery into paradise by the adorable postures he would relax into while he was asleep. I am truely grateful for his gentle yet insistent presence, and he got the nickname NurseCat for good reason. I lost him on March 31, 2007 when he was out overnight, probably due to the presence of coyotes in the area. He was getting older and not as fast and as good of a jumper as he used to be. I'll miss him always.

You might have noticed that my family and I have new additions to our names for the Holiday Season. It's from the Christmas carol "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman", specifically the verse saying "O Tidings of Comfort and Joy". Mom realized around last Christmas that the three of us fit that verse perfectly.
I'm the Tidings, as I was the one who prepared my Mom for the never-ending lovefest that is Minnie & Penny. I helped enlarge her heart, much like the Grinch whose heart enlarged 3 times that day, I enlarged her heart 'til she thought it couldn't hold any more. Then Minnie & Penny made it several times larger than that, something Mom thought was impossible.
Penelope stands for Comfort, as I can't imagine a more comforting kitty with her roaring purr and her healing ways. Mom thinks she's as close to a Saint or an angel in kitty form that she's ever seen.
Minuette fits Joy, as she is the most rambunctious and gleeful monkey Mom has ever experienced. She brings a huge dose of vitality into Mom's tired life, and lights her heart up like the fourth of July with joy and laughter.
We hope your Holiday Season to be filled with Comfort and Joy, as we are certainly fortunate to have our fill of it!

After Monkey (Blue) was so kind as to give me a mouse and much more, Mom was thinking of me again (I love it when she does that!)
She still calls me her "knight in shining armour" as I showed her every part of the best of the masculine, a true gentlecat so to speak. Chivalrous to the end and beyond. She still misses me (even though she's still having mad fun with the girls), especially for the little things. She'll always miss getting me dry after being out in the rain, as I had the most wonderful wet cat smell imaginable (dogs can't pull *that* one off MOL.) She'll miss me rubbing my nose and cheek against her face whenever she picked me up. She'll especially miss the heaven of how I would sleep in with her in bed for as long as she wanted to without me waking her up. And she'll miss the almost human way that love shone through my eyes as she stared into them. I'll always be her sweetheart, so that's a very happy position to be in, well loved up here on the Rainbow Bridge.
