Tabby and White
Being outdoors on a sunny day, and snuggling in bed with my human
Having my human stand up when I'm happily asleep on her lap--I'm pretty laid back about everything else but having my sleep interrupted
A catnip-stuffed tube
Favorite Nap Spot:
On a fuzzy blanket right next to two large windows: a room with a view
Steak and cream: kitty treats are an acceptable substitute (barely)
Can charm the socks off anyone at will, especially women
indoors and outdoors
Bliss showed up with two brothers on a wintry January night on our deck--begging for food--while still a kitten. I scooped all three up, and scooted them down to the warm downstairs where I closed the door to the upstairs to keep them from having to interact with the three cats we already had. I got to know all three really well over the next three months, and absolutely fell in love with Bliss. He was less agressive and sweeter than his brothers: a true beta male. He got his name because whenever I held him he got an expression on his face of pure kitty ecstasy. When we introduced the three to our resident three cats we found out, sadly, that the two more agressive brothers couldn't get along with our older male cat, and had to give them away. But I wouldn't have let go of Bliss for the world. His mellow nature paid off, as he got along well with the older male. I thought he would miss his brothers, but I think he had gotten tired of being pushed around by them. He has had my heart ever since.
Bliss was an incredible blessing in my life, and though not trained as such he was a true therapy cat. I've struggled for many years with several--at the time undiagnosed--tick-bourne diseases, and I credit my survival in a large part to his sweet steady influence. He would always demand that I go to bed with him if I was tempted to stay up late, and demanded a lap any time that I really needed rest but didn't want to. And he turned those rests from a drudgery into paradise by the adorable postures he would relax into while he was asleep. I am truely grateful for his gentle yet insistent presence, and he got the nickname NurseCat for good reason. I lost him on March 31, 2007 when he was out overnight, probably due to the presence of coyotes in the area. He was getting older and not as fast and as good of a jumper as he used to be. I'll miss him always.
Forever in Bliss

Just a quick note to all of my wonderful friends who remembered my birthday, even though I'm up here at the Bridge! I was in the middle of a huge conga line with many of my great Catster angels friends when the angel mail delivery showed up and sent such a wonderful virtual care package filled with goodies! I was so humbled, as it was losing me that made my mom join Catster in the first place to help her with her grief. Then I got introduced to some of the bestest angel friends a kitty could hope for, although some of them came later and I greeted them on the way in, helping them figure out how to help their grieving pawrents (weren't the angel dust fireworks spectacular Buddie, Hazel Lucy and Lola?) My heavens, ever since Mom joined Catster I met so many wonderful angel kitties, and the parties are something else (I think I saw Simba and Calvin with lampshades on, but maybe that's just the niptini acting on my imagination.)
There are so many other friends up here I haven't mentioned (like Rocky Ann, Marrakech, Gracie, Sooks and Ava), but it's especially the ones who sent goodies to bring comfort to my Mom that I'm most grateful for, as in the end making sure her heart heals is the most important gift of all, and that's what you all at Catster have helped her so much with.

You might have noticed that my family and I have new additions to our names for the Holiday Season. It's from the Christmas carol "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman", specifically the verse saying "O Tidings of Comfort and Joy". Mom realized around last Christmas that the three of us fit that verse perfectly.
I'm the Tidings, as I was the one who prepared my Mom for the never-ending lovefest that is Minnie & Penny. I helped enlarge her heart, much like the Grinch whose heart enlarged 3 times that day, I enlarged her heart 'til she thought it couldn't hold any more. Then Minnie & Penny made it several times larger than that, something Mom thought was impossible.
Penelope stands for Comfort, as I can't imagine a more comforting kitty with her roaring purr and her healing ways. Mom thinks she's as close to a Saint or an angel in kitty form that she's ever seen.
Minuette fits Joy, as she is the most rambunctious and gleeful monkey Mom has ever experienced. She brings a huge dose of vitality into Mom's tired life, and lights her heart up like the fourth of July with joy and laughter.
We hope your Holiday Season to be filled with Comfort and Joy, as we are certainly fortunate to have our fill of it!
