Arrival Story:
Mr. Vegemite is a stray that has been coming around for over a year. Very frightened and thin looking. It took us a couple months to win his trust and love. I walked all over the neighborhood trying to look for his owners. If he has owners, they are very neglegent. If I found that he had owners I was willing to tell them that I would take him to the vets and pay for his needs if they were not able to do that and they would not owe me anything. I just wanted him to be taken care of. He needs to be fixed and I thought he had a horrible skin allergy but it was absesses on his face and he also had a bunch of ear mites. Despite the irritation and pain, he was so sweet and so full of love. I am thankful that my husband told me I could take him in to the Vet and get him seen too. I love him and he loves me. There is something so strong and special about this cat. I can't explain it but in his eyes, there is a great amount of "soul" in them.

He loves to come and have breakfast. He loves milk. He is very affectionate and friendly. He loves to be scratched because of his skin allergy which soon should be gone. He is very robust and heavy and muscular. He yowls for me to pay attention to him. It is a long deep "where you at" yowl that male Toms do when they are calling the female. I finally was able to take him to the vets on the 3rd of July and got him fixed. He has very bad absesses on both sides of his face. That is why in the pictures, his face looks raw under each ear. He also had lots of ear mites. I also asked the vet to give him a test for FIV and he did test positive but because it was a very light blue when it come out to be a light blue it is most likely be a false positive and to repeat the test later. I told the vet that I did not want him put down but fix him up and please do the best that she could do with him because he has captured my heart and I love him very much. He was so much soul in his eyes. He reminded me of myself when many years ago I had problems and was not considered salvagable but the Lord knew I was salvagable. Because he was unwanted, I wanted him. There is way more better information about FIV that is out that people do not understand. FIV is not a death sentence. They can live very long lives and it is not as infectious as previously thought to be. When I picked him up from the vets and brought him home, I put him in a separate bedroom with a litter pan and food and water. I had to do that because our other rescued adopted kitty Love Muffin wanted to bully him! I had to lay the squirt gun by the bedroom he was in in order to stop her from bothering and hissing and growling at the poor guy! He was so happy and so loving and very grateful. He has some pretty strong head-butts and is a very loud purrer. The first morning after his operation, he was a good boy and took his medicine but he wanted out to go potty and did not use the pan. I have noticed that nobody ever played with him with a cat toy. I tried to play with him with a cat toy that has a stick with elastic and a toy tied on the end. My other cats love these. Poor Mr. Vegemite was scared of the toy! So, poor little guy, nobody has ever played with him!

Mom finally got the worst news about me

Mom was not accepting that I am gone. She was suring through paws petfinders trying to see where I went to. She did not think that I would be immediatly put down at the shelter because of my being fixed and they would see that. What did the evil cruel crafty people tell them when they brought me in. They seen the staples in my face that I was being seen to and having vet care and they were crafty. Mom feels that it is possible that they may have pulled out my staples so when they took me in, the ignorant dummies at the shelter would not know I was getting care. Also, mom found out that they brought me in injured!! The last time momma and dad seen me I was fine. Mom is confident the truth will come out. Pray that if these bad people hurt me deliberately and took me in and had me maliciously put down, I would get justice and so would momma. There is nothing hidden that shall not be uncovered and a merciful man considers the life of his beast but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Why does Love Muffin torment me!

All my new family is nice to me. Baby and Sweetpea and Sasha, Melah and Lady Jane, they do not mind me. They know that I am not a threat. It is their other new adoptee, Love Muffin that is insecure and very vocal and throw a fit and hisses and yowls something terrible when my momma tries to bring me in and take care of me. She puts Love Muffin in another room by herself so I can have peace and quiet for a bit. We are having a heat wave and momma wants me to come in with the other children. Lady Jane is the same as me, she likes to stay outside relaxin around the fish pond or under the porch. Momma just wants to make sure I am doing fine and wants her children to be comfortable and taken care of. It is nice to be loved

My first trip to the doctors!

On Tuesday, my new momma really surprised me! She was very nice to me and loving on me and managed to get me into a carrier and take me to the vets!! I have never been to a kitty doctor before. She told the vet that she wanted me to be fixed and have my absesses drained and my ear mites removed. Also my FIV test turned out light blue which means that I am postive. Mom would not have me go to sleep. She loves me and will take care of me, besides that, she is aware that with it being light blue that it may be a false positive, she is hoping, otherwise, momma wants me to have some happy life of being loved and wanted. Mom gives me my medicine in the mornings in my milk. I love milk! I used to be really skinny and now I have a nice round tummy! I feel so much better with my face not in pain and those darned ear mites pestering me! I look like a very happy boy indeed. I am the only boy kitty in the family now.
