A tigercat's occasional waking moments

Hi. new friends! What should I do on my summer vacation?

Y'all are so nice, sending all these Friend Requests!

The other cat I live with is very aloof. Mom says it's because she's a typical Siamese cat, but I think she just doesn't like all the attention.

I love to meet people, so I wear a small dog harness when we go out to visit the school. I am a good passenger in the car clipped into a pet booster seat. I can sit very quietly once we get to the school, but I get all snuggly and 'mrow' a lot once the little brothers and sisters who wait for their school-aged kids see me!

Yesterday was the last day of school until August. I was sad, but I got to see my dog friend Dominic. I'm as big as he is, but he's still a puppy. I wonder how big he'll be in the fall.

Do girl cats go outside the litter box when they're mad?

I think Biko-cat has a problem. Last night she peed on the loveseat in Daddy's study and today she pooped on the mat in front of our litter box.

I tried to talk to her, but she went HISS! and swiped at me when I approached her. I sat with Mommy while she thought about any recent changes in the house and all she could think of was that she washed the big fluffy bathmat over the weekend.

That kid is tricky.

The kid went away for the whole summer, leaving me with all the time in the world to nap on her bed, inspect her toilet (the people keep it closed but I think there are fish in there), and lie around in doorways.

Then she came back. She smelled like DOGS and tried to carry me around. Oh no! I shared with everyone that I was Not Happy and refused to eat until Mommy tweaked my dry food mix to all Meow Mix.

I really like Meow Mix and Mommy and Daddy are giving me extra attention. The kid even made me a pillow to lie on. It's good to be king.

Gone to kitty heaven.

This is Max's human mom, because I don't have the heart to write in his voice about this.

Our sweet Bubby-katzen started acting lethargic and rapidly lost weight the second week of September. When he stopped eating his favorite food, we took him to the vet. He turned out to be in diabetic ketoacidosis and had a blood glucose level of 580. If he survived the night with intensive treatment, he would only have a few more months to live with a greatly reduced quality of life, so we made the hard decision to put him to sleep.

We all said our goodbyes and kissed and scritched little brother, then Dad and Laurel went out to the waiting room while I stayed with him for the procedure. It was quick and quiet; one of the technicians scritched the back of his neck while I petted his big teddy-bear paws.

Maxwell of Fender passed away just before 5 PM on September 12, hours before Hurricane Ike came ashore several hundred miles to our south. It was fitting since he came to us in an ice storm that shut down Dallas for a day.

We are grateful that we were able to give him an extra two years of live, safely indoors and loved beyond measure. The house is very quiet without him.
