We adopt a person....

It was a Saturday in May of last year. My sister Emma and I had just finished eating our soft food (yum, yum). Then Miss Lauren (the person who had raised us) took me and GAVE ME A BATH!!!! Just because I had gotten into the food bowl (don't want to waste food) and had it all over my fur.

Then she dried me off, wrapped me in a towel and took me out to the waiting room. There I saw a nice lady, and when she was told I was a little boy, she said "Oh, this is Louis!". She didn't even notice I was having a bad fur day, with it being all over the place due to a bath. She took me in her arms, kissed me on the nose and cuddled me. Then she put me in the carrier. But I was worried.....where was my sister???

I AM A MIGHTY HUNTER!!!

Well, I was taking meowmy for our evening walk, and was at the edge of the empty lot behind our townhouse, when all of a sudden a RAT, jumped out of the weeds!! Well, I was on that rat like gravy on rice.....and in no time I was carrying him by the tail.....but meowmy (for some strange reason) kept saying "drop that dirty thing Louie"....Hey, I caught it, its MY rat. Well, I wanted to go inside and show Emma, Benny and Pete my prize, so I went right up to the gate to our patio and waited. Well, meowmy went on with the "Drop it Louie"....I went to open my mouth to tell her something, and I DROPPED MY RAT!!!....and he ran about a foot away and lay still. So, meowmy put me inside and I ran in and told Emma, Benny and Pete what happened. When they saw that meowmy was outside, we all thought that she would bring the rat inside for us to play with......but NO, she picked it up (with a small garden shovel) and put it back in the empty lot!!
I bet the rat had fainted with fright after my catching him..... When she came in meowmy did tell me what a mighty hunter I was, and we all got some Temptations Tuna Flavored Treats.

When she comes home this afternoon, and we go for a walk I am going to keep my eyes open to see if I can get that rat again.......will keep you all posted.

TODAY I AM FIVE YEARS OLD!!!

And so is my sisfur, Emma. We have owned our meowmy for five years now....it is hard to believe. Both of us still get the "Kitty Friskies" and play and run around.

Our meowmy said she would open a can of PEOPLE tuna when she got home tonight!!!

Today Louis Armstrong went to the Rainbow Bridge

He was fine when I left for work this morning, and when I got home I saw him sleeping in the patio. But when I went to touch him, I realized his kitty soul had left his body. My beloved "Big Louie" had left me....and his sister Emma.

I have no idea what happened, but he obviously did not suffer, and had shown no signs of being sick......

Fly free at the Rainbow Bridge, my sweet Maine Coon Man...meowmy loved you, will never forget how you and your sister Emma healed my heart after Hurricane Katrina took my four cats. They greeted you at the Rainbow Bridge. When you learn how, from other Angels, send me whisker kisses from the Bridge.

A sad day in our community.............

Yesterday, two police officers were shot and killed when they went to a trailer to arrest someone in a nearby community. Two others were shot and wounded. The two men who were killed were 28 and 30. The younger man had one child, and the older one had five. Meowmy was so upset to read this.....these men put their lives on the line every day.

But I wanted to post and let her know than when they arrived at the Rainbow Bridge, there were thousands and thousands of police officers and police dogs, firefighters, Emergency Responders, and people who had served in the miliraty as well as others who devoted their lives to protecting and helping those in need. They lined up on both sides of the road leading to the Rainbow Bridge, and from their uniforms you could tell some of them had come to the Bridge many, many years ago. I was wearing my bomber jacket and pilot's wings, and sat next to meowmy's Daddy (who I call PawPaw Walter), he was wearing his Army Air Corps uniform, and proudly saluted and welcomed the two police officers. We know their family, friends and community will miss them, but they are safe here in Heaven, and will send a message to their families.

If a member of your family is a police officer, firefighter, or in an occupation that puts their lives in danger, please know our meomwy prays for them every day, and all us kitties purr too.
