Arrival Story:
We have been considering getting another cat for months now, and today we had to go to the vet to pick up Emma's food. There was our Oliver with his brother and sister- My husband and I fell in love right away. He is too cute for words. The vet techs warned us he was "hissy". He is part feral and just came to the vet's office last week and hasn't had much human contact. We just laugh when he goes on a hiss rampage, as soon as you pick him up he's fine. When my husband held him he just snuggled right in, so hopefully with lots of love and hugs he will get over his "hissy" phase! We can't wait for the rest of the family to get to know him - So far both Emma and Eve are scared to death of him! I don't know why, he's as small as a lil bug! They seem curious, but run away when he is around. Both girls have hissed at him, but so far have not attacked him or anything. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED that this introduction will be smooth and painless, those of you who know our family know how hard it was to get Emma and Eve to get along...Why get another kitten then, you ask? Look at his face! How could we resist, besides we feel it is important for Eve to have a companion for life. Emma and Eve's ages are very far apart and we worried about Eve in the future.

Bio:
It's amazing how much he has changed in just three days. Oliver no longer hisses at us, instead greets us with the loudest purr I have ever heard. He is such a love sponge! He lets you pick him up whenever you want and will instantly purr and get comfortable. He has sat still for his first manicure and ear and eye inspection - he just sat on my lap on his back and very calmly took all the fussing. I must mention again how wonderful our vets are. He was so clean and healthy (too many times we have seen dirty and sick animals in shelters and at rescue organizations) He was taken care of beautifully. He has been such a wonderful addition to our family. He is so loving, sweet, and funny! We are totally in love with him already! We only hope for many, many more years to come with our first son! First week update - Oliver is doing great! Well, aside from the *pooting* :-) He loves to follow his big sisters everywhere! They are tolerating him very well so far, they watch him like he's TV. Every now and then they will growl or hiss, but most of the time the girls choose to walk away. Nothing bothers Ollie, he just sits there and listens to them growl or hiss (sometimes giving some of his own) but he doesn't seem afraid of them at all. Oliver is having a blast running around all over the place and playing. He purrs all day long and is so affectionate! We think he is very happy in his new home! UPDATE WINTER 2007 Oliver is still the absolute LOVE of our lives and Eve's as well. They are best friends forever. He still cannot get enough kisses and hugs. He makes this adorable sound when he wants to be picked up and smooshed (which is ALL THE TIME)! He likes to be picked up and carried around wherever I go. He will actually sit on my hip like a baby! It's so CUTE! He behaves perfectly - never does anything wrong (yet), takes anything that come his way like a trooper (his neutering, medicine, etc) Only downside to all of this is Emma. Unfortunately we were fooled the first couple of months. We thought they would actually get along. She decided when he was about 31/2 or 4 months old that she HATED him with a passion. We have tried a million things to make their relationship work, but it looks like it's not going to happen. We wouldn't trade him for the world though, he is the sweetest and most loving kitten! Ollie Rocks!

Just taking a nap...

My dear friends at catster,

My sissie and I are just taking a catnap from catster while my parents are in the process of adopting a non fur brother or sister for us!!!

I know Eve has taken this very hard. Her relationship with Boogers has returned to a friendship. I'm glad that they can still be friends. It's hard to maintain relationships when your family is going a bit nuts! I'm doing my best to support her during this time.

I am excited to have a baby in the house! I finally get to be the big brother to somebody! I know it won't happen for a long time ( adoption is stinky that way) but I am ready to share all my toys and love with whomever joins our family!

I want to thank my Auntie Hazel for always being there for me! Love you lots and lots.

I will be able to check up on things - just not daily like I used to. Catster has been so important to us, and we will never forget that, or go away. Catster is our home away from home - where we have met wonderful friends! I am so grateful for that.

I send all my love out to my pals and hope that 2009 is the best year for everycat!

xoxoxo Ollie Pop
