Arrival Story: Calvin was my aunt's beloved cat. When she passed away, her evil husband took all 4 of her cats to the Humane Society the day after the funeral. I "bought" all 4 of them back - found homes for 3 and kept him! He is a great cat, and I know why she loved him so much. Calvin made his journey to the bridge on October 26th at 11:35 a.m. after a six week battle with stomach cancer. Rest in peace, sweet angel. We will love and miss your precious face. July 19, 1991 - October 26, 2009
Bio: Calvin is the most affectionate cat I've ever been around. He would spend all day in your lap if he could! He loves to snuggle at night and capture any body heat he can. We had to buy a king-sized bed because of Calvin.
Clocks are not needed in our house since we got Calvin. He is the morning alarm clock. And you know if he is sitting in the kitchen by the refrigerator, it must be 3:30 p.m. With Calvin, you can't just give a spontaneous treat because then he will expect it every day at the same time! Calvin also sleeps in the cutest positions. His mommy says, "you can't get any cuter than that" about the way he sleeps! For an older cat he is always ready for fun, and he has quite an adventureous spirit.
You have to open each diary page and/or photo album page, copy the Catster URL into the box over at the Wayback Machine. This will generate a new URL that you can copy and paste into a word document for future viewing.
It is difficult to put into words what Catster has meant to us. In the early years, we spent so much time here starting groups, playing in the forums, sharing pet health with one another, writing and commenting on diary entries, celebrating with rosettes, grieving when our pals journeyed, and gaining friends we will have forever.
That special magic of Catster will live in all of us whether the site is here or not. It won't be the same, but we will always know what a wonderful place this was for cats and dogs.
Take care, and if you or your parent are not on Facebook, please look us up. We have a page called the Strickland Felines, and our Mawmee is Laura Strickland.
I've been busy at the bridge trying to save a bunch of my Catster stuff, and I sure got sad thinking about all the pals I'm going to miss. My Mawmee has been on Facebook for awhile, and she even set up a Facebook page for all of us cats - she has added our Catster pictures and will put other good stuff on there later.
So, I want to encourage your Moms and Dads to join Facebook. Of course, it isn't going to be the same as the pawsome community we had on Catster, but all those Moms and Dads are figuring out what we'll do next!
They have a couple of groups set up so they can connect with one another. We don't want to lose touch with our pals! They are also saving stuff from the Olde Furts group and other active groups.
We need you on Facebook so we don't ever forget you - so please join us over there.
Also, we need you to
>SIGN THIS PETITION TO SAVE CATSTER! It will be sent soon to the Top Dog at Say Media, so you need to get your paws on it and sign it NOW!
Finally, it goes without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway. We have cried so many tears over the destruction of Catster. And that is what it is - destroying what is a wonderful community of FRIENDS!
We can't begin to tell you how much your friendship has meant to us over the years. We have laughed, cried, and had so much fun, and to think that it is ending is heartbreaking.
Don't you worry, I'll still be greeting the new angels when they arrive at the bridge, and I'll figure out a way to tell you all the new bridge secrets I have learned.
Good-bye, pals, and remember the most important thing I've taught you in my years on Catster . . . . . .
Knead On ~
Love, your pal Calvin (or my too fast name, Clavin)
