I'M JUST A LAZY GUY AGAIN

Today and yesterday I didn't do much but jump into the windows and watch the outdoor activity (bugs and birds, of course!)

This evening when Mommy can home from work we all greeted her at the door because we knew food was coming soon. I wasn't interested in my food though. I wanted her lemon butter salmon! She gave each of us a few small pieces. That made our day.

Later on Merl jumped on my backside as I walked from the dining room to the kitchen. I looked back at him and gave him a look, "like not now, boy, please! I'm tired."

Well, I must go now. Breeeeeep to all!

I CAUGHT A FLY TODAY!

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is the first fly I caught and I caught it in mid-flight. I lept up into the air, cupped both my front paws and scooped it up and dragged it to the floor. Mommy said, "let me see what you got" and she moved my paws and saw underneath the little fly I got. When she did this, it got away. Shucks! I wanted it for an appetizer!

Oh well, I guess I'll have to try again.

"Breeeeep" for now everybody.

MERL AND I WERE BAD THIS MORNING AND MOMMY'S MUSIC

Yes, early this morning Merl and I had a good old time. We chased each other all around the living room and up and down two bookcases and knocked over several picture frames and a knick-knacks (one Tiki and one little house that looked like a Hobbit house). Mommy looked at me especially and said, "you both were naughty, weren't you?" "I know Sampy didn't do it because he was with me." I looked at Mommy with my big yellow owl eyes and gave her that look, "Who me?" "Who Merl?"

Luckily nothing was broken, Whew!! Anyhow Mommy doesn't get that mad when we knock stuff over. If we go behind the computer or the TV in the computer room, she can get a little grouchy.

Later on today, Mommy got out some of her old 45's. These go all the way back to before I was even thought of. (Mommy's Note: 1960's)

There was one song she played that got my motor running and I had to jump into her lap and nuzzle, rub and purr. Mommy told me it was called "Some Velvet Morning" by Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra (Whatever!). It was a folkie type song that mentioned "Phaedra" in it. Mommy said she's thinks Phaedra was a Greek goddess of love . . . but not too sure. Also, she played three times "Born on the Bayou" by Creedence Clearwater Revival; and "Hey Gyp" by Donovan; and a Canned Heat song called "Going Up the Country". She played some other stuff that made Sampy's ears go back and he had to leave the room. I believe the group was called Iron Butterfly.

As to music, I like the stuff Mommy plays now: Lindisfarne, Enya, Loreena McKennitt and anything Celtic. I like Irish harp music and I really like "Venezuela" by Rita Connolly. This is the song she took a video of Sampy and I playing with the "birdie" on a string. Our playing went right with the music.

Sampy tells me he likes Beethoven. He was raised on Beethoven.
He really likes "Fur Elise". So does Mommy.

So much for a trip into the past via the "cool one", the Bail. Maybe Mommy will play some more oldies for us tomorrow.

But for now I got to go. BREEEEEEEP TO ALL. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!

I'M LUCKY I'M A CAT AND DON'T HAVE TO WEAR CLOTHES

Thought of the day from the "cool one, the Bail: Like the title says, I'm lucky I'm and cat and don't have to wear clothes. Mommy has so many clothes and every season when the weather changes, she goes through this ritual of sorting, moving and trying on all these clothes. She takes a pile of clothes out of the big black trunk in the spare bedroom and likewise removes stuff from a couple of suit cases. Then she goes through all the closets and dresser drawers and transfers all this stuff . . . . and then tosses some of it in a separate pile for Goodwill, et al.

Wouldn't it be much easier on her if she had fur like me and in the springtime just shed and grow it back in the winter?

Cats have it made. We don't have to buy or wear clothes!

Well, I must go now. BREEEEEEEP TO ALL!

ALL ALONG MY WATCHTOWER

All along his watchtower, the Bail had a view,
of birds and birds and birds and an occasional squirrel too.
Outside in the distance, the Sampy did growl
at the sight of an approaching tom cat who loudly began to howl . . .

Okay Dylan . . . Okay Hendrix, the "cool one", the Bail has struck again!

This is my version of "All Along The Watchtower" written by Bob Dylan and sung by Bob Dylan and also sung by Jimmi Hendrix; and the Watchtower is in the spare bedroom.

I get a view of everything from here . . . three oak trees and a bamboo fence (a great bird hideout).

Every morning the activity is great from here. I told Merlin about it and he enjoys the view. Because he is still little, he has to use the clothes hamper and file cabinet as a stairway to the window (the Watchtower).

Every morning I keep my watch from this spot just before Mommy goes to work. The bird activity is extra heavy then.

Later for now, Breeeeep to all you cool Catsters and all my Catser buddies.

YUCK . . . . WHIPPED CREAM ... YUCK VEGETABLES

Mommy offered me some whipped cream and one sniff of it made me run in the opposite direction. I was ready to hurl. How could Sampy eat this garbage? He can keep it. Mommy can keep it. I DON'T DO DAIRY AND I DON'T DO JUNK FOOD. I HATE VEGETABLES AND/OR FRUIT. Sampy eats that stuff called squash and when he was young (he told me) he loved cantalope. Ugh!

What I like is toast (crust only and just a little taste) and fish (lemon salmon) and water and plenty of Chef's Blend dry cat food. I will eat Iams turkey (sometimes) and catfish (sometimes). The rest of it is Yucky!

Yes, I'm cool, but I'm very very finiky. I'm at that age when certain foods are yuck, yuck, yuck and don't make me eat it when I don't like it.

End of conversation, done. Yes, I'm finiky and proud of it.

Sorry if I offended anyone about my tastes in food, but, oh well, every cat is different. Merl's another finiky one too . . . he's strickly a Chef's Blend guy and loves water too. He'll sample small amounts of IAMS moist and he loves seafood. He also hates junk food. He was offered some squash today and he turned up his nose to it. GO MERL!

Well, that's my voice on certain foods. Breeeeeep to every Catster and my Catster buddies! It's catnap time.

SUNNY SATURDAY

It's a sunny Saturday and my activities were full force this morning. I chased Merl all around and then when I tired him out, I went after Sampy. Sampy got aggravated after a few minutes and growled and then screeched "kak, kak, kak" at me. He ran into the cellar with Mommy who was on her way to wash some clothes. Cellar sanctuary, he calls it.

Anyway, a little later I sat in the bathroom window (open) and watched the birds. There was a bird one of the trees peeping up a storm, but I couldn't see him. Merl sat beside me and also looked for the stupid loud beaked bird, to no avail.

Last, but not least, Mommy let me look at my handsome face in the mirror. Boy am I good-looking! I have such striking yellow eyes which go good with my gray (blue in the cat show world) coat.

Must go now. Next week is my show and I have to have a bath mid-week. Ugh! That's not my cup of tea!

BREEEEEP TO ALL YOU CATSTERS and have a good weekend.

I LOST MY RUFF!

April 30th 2006 5:15 pm

OH MY GOD, I lost my ruff! That's what I don't like about springtime, my ruff falls off. Now my body is shaped like a bowling pin. I need my ruff back to balance out my shape. For those of you who don't know what a ruff is, all Maine Coons have one, so do Norwegians, Persians and Ragdolls, to name a few.

Other than that, I had a very lazy day. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ in the wicker basket in my Watch Tower room. I even slept through when Mommy gave Merl a bath. I found out this later from Merl.

Boy, he was not a happy camper about this. He tried his best no avoid putting most of his body in the sink by sticking his head and front paws under Mommy's armpit and his back paws on the ledge of the sink. His back, butt and tail got the soaping action and then the rinse off. He's fine and dry now and looking a little fluffier.

It's getting late and I understand that Mommy has a new movie to watch. FLIGHT PLAN with Jodie Foster.

Must go now. BREEEP to all Catsters out there.

ACTIVE MONDAY MORNING

All this morning before Mommy left for work, Merl and I were running all around the house. Mommy did you put coffee in our cat food?

Mommy got out the feather on a stick and Merl and I jumped for it. We did this in the kitchen. The floor is kind of slick and we slide when we leap. It was fun. I lept way up (about 3 feet). Merl still has a problem landing back on his feet after a good leap. We also played "spring on shadows of Mommy's hands" on the side of one on the lower kitchen cabinets. We had a good old time.

Sampy was outside with Cammie for about two hours. He missed all the action.

I'm tired now, so as usual, Breeeeep to all!

MERL AND I LIKE COOKIES!

May 2nd 2006 7:10 pm

This was just discovered last night. Mommy offered Merl a small corner of her oatmeal craisen cookie and he went wild over it and ate it.

Today she whipped out a pecan sandie and both of us attacked it as if it were made of catnip! Again, she only gave us a few little crumbs.

We both have sweet tooths when it comes to cookies; only cookies.

I guess each cat has his favorite stuff. I'm not going to knock Sampy about his love of whipped cream anymore. I'll bet if I tell him Merl and I were cookie monsters, he would laugh his head off.

Well, that's about it. Breeep to all and goodnight Catster folks.
