Arrival Story: I lost 2 cats in the space of a month. Mickey died after eating things he shouldn't have and my 17 year old baby died of liver disease. I haven't been without a critter in years, so I called my friend who was the director of the area humane society to see if she had any kittens in the cat room.
She had 1 kitten who I fell in love with at first sight. I actually left with 2 cats. An older female orange tabby had been dumped there the day before. This was a veeeeeery unhappy cat and wasn't dealing well with all the noise at the humane society. Even though she was a tabby (which I'm allergic to) she came home with me too. Mo died a year ago, though, but she lived with me for 5 wonderful years.
