Arrival Story: Taylor and I had a feral mom. We were born in a building across the yard from our parents' duplex in October of 1992. One day, my human aunt heard insistent meowing coming from the place where the two buildings met. (The buildings were going to be demolished to allow for the widening of the road.) So, my human uncle took a crowbar and gently broke through the wall. A few minutes later, there was a little face peering back at him from the hole he'd created...it was me!
Mom took me inside the house and put me on a heating pad inside a dog crate they owned. She bought milk replacement for me, and made a small makeshift kitty box from cardboard. The next day my aunt told my mom that she heard more meowing coming from the hole in the wall. When my mom went to look with a flashlight, there was a sweet fluffy black face peering out--Taylor! Mom tried to get her out, but she would not let anyone pull her out; it took a few hours. They finally thought to get some canned tuna and Taylor ventured close enough to the hole for Mom's friend's son to pull her out.
The next day, a Monday, Mom took us to the vet. It ends up we were around 10 days old. Mom and Dad bottle fed us and raised us up. After all that, they decided to keep us! :) Mom and Dad had already rescued Buddy. Buddy ended up being a surrogate momcat to us.
Bio: Brother to Taylor Angel, adopted brother to Buddy Angel, Bob ~ Sweet Angel Boy, Pippin, Marmelade and Midge
Mom and Dad have opened their hearts and home to a foster kitty, whom they will adopt permanently if all goes well. His name is Sebastian (Mom picked out his name.) Please welcome him to Catster as you have all the other members of my family. :)
Sebastian hails from San Jose, California. He is a sweet outdoor kitty who befriended a friend of my parents, about six months ago. She already has a kitty, and could not take him. She was concerned about what would happen to Sebastian, being an outdoor kitty and all, so she asked for Mom's help to place him. He is so sweet and loving that she was looking for an indoor living situation for him.
Mom volunteers for a cat sanctuary and tried to help find a placement for Sebastian in the San Jose area, but all the no-kill rescues in the area were full up, or had long waiting lists. Then, Mom's friend found out she might be leaving California very soon. This added to the urgency for Sebastian to be placed. That is when Mom asked Dad if they could foster-to-adopt Sebastian. Dad right away said yes!
Their friend brought Sebastian up to Placerville on Wednesday. He is now staying in the back hall and bedroom area. He has plenty of room. :) He is an absolute sweetie! He loves attention 24x7.
For health and safety reasons, Dad and Mom put up a tall pet gate with overlapping cardboard panels on it, to separate him from my siblings. He has already been to the vet in San Jose and was given his first round of vaccines, including a FeLV vaccine, and he was given a FeLV/FIV test. He tested negative for FeLV and FIV. He will be getting his second round of boosters this Wednesday, and will have a fecal exam on Thursday.
Once he gets a clean bill of health, he will be slowly introduced to Pippin, Marmelade and Midge. Mom and Dad will remove the cardboard panels from the pet gate first, so they can see each other, then after a day or two, Sebastian will meet my siblings up close and in purrson! This is where our Catster friends come in. Please purr that Pippin, Marmelade, Midge and Sebastian, tolerate each other! Mom and Dad aren't asking for miracles, but they hope they will at least get along. :)
