Arrival Story:
Taylor and I had a feral mom. We were born in a building across the yard from our parents' duplex in October of 1992. One day, my human aunt heard insistent meowing coming from the place where the two buildings met. (The buildings were going to be demolished to allow for the widening of the road.) So, my human uncle took a crowbar and gently broke through the wall. A few minutes later, there was a little face peering back at him from the hole he'd created...it was me!
Mom took me inside the house and put me on a heating pad inside a dog crate they owned. She bought milk replacement for me, and made a small makeshift kitty box from cardboard. The next day my aunt told my mom that she heard more meowing coming from the hole in the wall. When my mom went to look with a flashlight, there was a sweet fluffy black face peering out--Taylor! Mom tried to get her out, but she would not let anyone pull her out; it took a few hours. They finally thought to get some canned tuna and Taylor ventured close enough to the hole for Mom's friend's son to pull her out.
The next day, a Monday, Mom took us to the vet. It ends up we were around 10 days old. Mom and Dad bottle fed us and raised us up. After all that, they decided to keep us! :) Mom and Dad had already rescued Buddy. Buddy ended up being a surrogate momcat to us.

My blood test results are in and I have good news! My Creatinine is the same as it was back in October and my BUN is just a tad higher than it was. My vet isn't too worried about the BUN as it can fluctuate a bit with diet, etc. She says I appear stable for now. As I mentioned before, we will try the fluids three times a week unless I need them more often. My next regular checkup will be in April. :)

Dear Friends,
I had a check up on Saturday, and the vet tech drew some blood. My vet is going to call with the results and I will let you know what they are. One thing that isn't so good is that I have to have fluids more often now...three times a week instead of twice a week.
I was somewhat dehydrated on Saturday, my last fluid session having been the Wednesday before. My vet thinks three days a week will be sufficient. Mom is going to take me back in for a re-check in two weeks to see if my new fluid schedule is working.
On a more positive note, my weight is pretty stable and my appetite is good. I haven't had any major vomiting from the CRF. Also, I seem happy and I am my affectionate self. :)

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Thank you for remembering us with rosies and special gifts on our pages. It means so much to be here this Christmas. We are still taking it one day at a time with my CRF. I'm doing pretty well, still enjoying my food and lovies and looking forward to some turkey today! :)
